All of the resorts are beautiful (Iberostar Tucan on the cheaper side and Excellence on the pricier side - not that much more money though, maybe a $2-300 more per person for a three night stay). I really don't like the idea of my guests being spread out at different resorts so I wouldn't want to choose the pricier resort for the wedding and have everyone stay somewhere else. UGHH! Ooohhh...I just had this SAME dilemma (in my head...hahaha)....I think the conclusion I came to is...I would HATE to have the wedding somewhere that I really didn't care for to accomodate people that may or may not come. I could just see myself ending up somewhere that I was not happy, to please people that end up not coming anyway. I figure people who are willing to come are already spending alot of money and a little more is probably NOT going to make the difference in their decision. If it was a majorly significant amount, I could see a problem but if its only a little bit pricier, and it makes you happy...do that. Okay, that's my view on it TODAY, we'll see what I thiink tomorrow....hahahaha smile105.gif

You could always have everyone stay at one resort and just have your ceremony and reception at another resort close by. I don't think that would be weird, chances are some people will want to stay elsewhere anyway. And if you really like a particular resort that might be too expensive you could always spend your honeymoon there to have a little privacy but still be close to anyone who stays in the area. Not sure if that answers your questions, but I do think you should invite everyone and maybe just give them a few options of where to stay.

I agree, maybe you can have your guests stay at one resort and do your wedding at another. If you don't have your wedding at an all-inclusive then it probably wouldn't make a difference in price anyway. But if you do have your wedding at an all-inclusive then it may be more expensive for you b/c your not a guest at the hotel and your guests are not staying there. Shoot I would love to have my wedding at the One & Only or Las Ventanas!

But yes, I did secretly extend that deadline for people I WANTED to be there. A bride's gotta do what a bride's gotta do smile72.gif
Smart! I like this tactic. I'll be using this.

re: invites, I agree with the ladies here--invite everyone you want. Then it's their call.

I did this, but only 1 couple RSVP'd on the website. I sent STDs to everyone I wanted to invite to my wedding (200 people) and I plan to send invites out to everyone I sent the STDs to.

Some of my extended family also whined about the DW thing, but that's just too bad, because it is not their choice. If they can't come, that's too bad and I'll miss them. But, I'll be darned if I'm NOT going to invite them....I can't even begin to imagine the family drama that would follow if I didn't send each of them an invite (even if I don't think they'll be able to come).

I would agree with everyone that has replied. I would invite everyone who I would like to come. If they cannot make it thats too bad but you cannot please everyone.

What my fiance and I have planned was for us to have our wedding in Cabo San Lucas and if they caan come then great if not too bad. But then we are going to have a reception when we get back where we are going to show the video of our wedding as well as a powerpoint of the pictures from the big day.

You never know I might even wear my dress and get all dolled up again. Not many people can say they got to wear there dress twice! smile29.gif

Whatever you do...do not get upset over what others think. You had no say in their weddings and it is up to you as to what you want for YOUR big day.

We are planning on having a big Mexican Fiesta party when we return. It will be very informal in my FMIL back yard with the pool but a way to celebrate with our friends and family who were not able to attend the wedding in Mexico.

I was thinking of sending a wedding announcement instead of an invitation before the wedding. I would put something in the announcement that if they wanted to join us in Mexico they should contact...me, the TA, a website, or something like that. Also mention they should expect an invitation to follow for the "at home celebration" Do you think this is tacky? Alternatively, I guess I could narrow down a date for the "reception" at home and include that in the wedding invitation instead.

A friend of mine sent out a mass e-mail with a link to her wedding website. When you went on the website there was a link to leave your name and address and then they would send you a formal invitation. This way they would only send invites to people that really showed an interest in going.
