We just did a 5K on Sunday. It's a Furry 5k for the Seattle Humane Society. I love it because you can run with your dogs - not many races let you do that. There was this yellow lab that ran the whole thing with this stuffed duck in its mouth. So cute! Our dogs love it too.

So I haven't been running for the past couple of weeks because my knees have been getting really achey after. My left one in particular has been clicking and creaking every time I go up stairs. So my doc wants me to get X rays. So it looks like walking and the eliptical for me. = (

I wouldn't say I was a big runner, but I do enjoy running. However, last year I was having trouble with my knee and had to get x-rays. Turns out I have arthritis in my right knee! I'm not THAT old - geez.... Anyway, now that I know, I take a glucosamine supplement everyday. Haven't been running as much as I would like due to being sick, a couple surgeries this year and just busy with work travel - I know - waa waa waa. Anyway, reading all this has inspired me to try to get back at it. I've been ramping up my workouts and may have to try a run this weekend.

Great story though - I used to live in Pittsburgh and would run through the winters early early in the morning. The one morning was so cold, snow on the ground. I was all bundled up but felt something strange on my face. I had been sweating, but it was so cold it turned into an icicle on my cheek!

I used to run, before I got shin splints. I stopped running for about 6 months to let them heal, and now I'm trying to get back into it. I bought a treadmill and that has definitely been helping. So far I can run for about 15 minutes comfortably so I think it's time to step it up.

Does anyone know how reliable the treadmill calorie counter is? If I walk on the treadmill for 30 min at 10% incline (3.0 speed), it says I have burned 240 calories. If I run at 0% incline for 15 minutes, it says I burned 100 calories. I'm assuming it's just because of the incline differences?!?
