derek is leaning towards getting married legally in US first, i'm leaning towards signing papers with judge on same day as ceremony. But we haven't had a chance to really to talk about it fully yet. We are going to talk about it when i have some time off work.
At least you have options, now its decision time!! Good luck, lets us know what you decide on doing :)

I have probably mentioned it too much, and my wedding is 8 mo away. But people seem to know about the legalities of Mexico. So they say are you having a legal wedding there? What should I say? I didn't think it was a big deal if people found out, but rethinking it, maybe it is. Maybe to others it devalues the DW. I was thinking of it more in terms of "filing paperwork, etc" but hmmm, guess not.smile29.gif

yeah its a funny situation...at least for me. I rather not tell anyone whats really going on bc I can hear some folks saying why should they spent xx-amount of dollars to fly to see a wedding that has already taken place (in the states). Of course, to me and you, thats not the way we see it. I will consider my DW my actual wedding day....the rest of the stuff is like you said "filing paperwork, etc".

Hi

My DH sister got married in the Dominican Republic, i think her time was 2pm (not as early as yours) but after the ceremony and the photos, she had an area set aside just for her. She hired a magician for an hour and after that was finished, we all sat round and the best man did the best man speech and read out any cards that they had been give by people that could'nt make it. She gave out bridesmaid presents then as well. Also, she arranged to have a tv with a dvd player as DH had made her a dvd of pictures and music that was special to her and we played that for at least 30 mins. There were a few people in tears. After this we went to the restraunt for dinner.

Maybe you could plan something like this?

Also, I have my time for 2.30, but the wedding co-ordinator has said that it may be possible to have it slightly later as I wanted 3.30 - 4.00pm.

Hope this helps

your sister's wedding sounds awesome. The magician, reading cards from people who couldn't make it, and have a picture show are all really great ideas. I love the idea of reading cards of people who couldn't make it. That's a sweet way to recognize all the people who aren't there. Thanks for the ideas.
