I agree with MSBRANDI... I also was diagnosed with GD late... Its managable, but make sure you dont cheat! My son was born 9lbs 8 oz because of GD. He was also 5 weeks early! He was the biggest baby in the NICU (Nusery Intensive Care Unit). Take care of yourself and also watch it after the pregnancy because it can put you at risk for Type II diabetes later in life or GD earlier if you have another baby.

I had it with the quads as well. I won't say its no big deal...just that it certainly doesn't have to be. They will moniter you, and just do as your doc says. They didn't even have me make any major changes, and my pregancy was about as high risk as you can get. I failed the first test (in spades in fact because the nurse failed to tell me not to eat) but the next couple showed my blood sugar levels were only slightly elevated. Believe me, they will let you know if things start getting out of hand. Its VERY common. Please, don't get stressed...easier said than done, I know. Just want you to know that its not horrible news.

Thanks for all of the words of wisdom and support. I go to the diabetic educator tomorrow, so I'll find out what kind of diet I'm supposed to be on. DH was surprised that it took so long (a week) to get me an appointment if it's a pretty important thing. I've been trying to eat better~ so we'll see if I've been choosing the right foods or not!
