that way when they open the outer envelope, it won't flutter away and get lost, but when they see it they will know to look for the reply envelope and stick it on right away.

look on the bright side, if you do it this way, it might get people to actually fill out the card and return it to you right away!
Acutally the outter envelope is already sealed....yeah too proactive I guess. I just figured that all I had to do when the time came was throw them in the mailbox...ahhh!

I know this is crappy but if you're like many wedding guests, you won't get them returned anyhow.. It's still the one thing that SUPER pisses me off about the wedding planning. It will be cheaper/easier to just call the folks you're waiting on to check on their RSVP. You probably already know who many of your guests are going to be or will know closer to the date.

You probably won't have time to do the calling yourself so delegate it to someone else. My MOH was more than willing to do this for me. I only had a few people so I called myself. If your guests says they sent it back, they can just explain about the postage increase and blame it on the post office.

Note to future brides: never seal your envelopes until you're ready to send them. :) (you never know what you'll wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat about because you forgot something)

I am not sure what I would do here. You could make a note on the outer envelope that the RSVP would be $0.01 short due to postage increases that haven't taken place yet.

Or what about doing something similar to what Abbie said, and double stick the $0.01 stamp to the outer envelope, then cover it with a pretty scrap of paper and put a note saying "Postage Increase Stamp $0.01 found here" You might even be able to do that in Word or something so it would look like postage writing...

ahh...that is what you meant Abbie with the doublestick....I might have to try something like that! I knew you ladies would help me with this.

As as Angela already stated...please done seal your envelopes until right before you mail them!!!
