beachy centerpiece help!

Recommended Posts

i'm a bm in a wedding coming up. the wedding is in ocean city, nj and it's an old school jersey shore theme wedding (old school as in cotton candy machine, black and white photo booth, mr softee truck, etc)

aaaanyway, the shower is coming up and i was put in charge of centerpieces. i bought pink sparkly sand buckets, and inside i put that pink crinkly paper in there. then inside there i put a bunch of huge ring pops and the shovel. so basically this all seemed so much cuter inside my head because i'm pretty unhappy with the final product. i like the buckets and shovels and i like the pink crinkly paper- i want to avoid sand because it's messy and i have to travel with these. so what else can i put in these thingshuh.gif i have enough time to order things online if i need to. any of you crafty girls have ideas?

what about putting styrofoam at the bottom, covering it with the pink paper and have lollipops sticking out? dum-dums, sugar daddies, etc.

or, fill it 1/2 way with something to take up space, and cover the top w/ m&ms or other candies. then the shovels will have a purpose!

What about doing a combined centerpiece/wedding favor bucket? I just recently saw some bath products that were ice cream themed in shape and flavor/scent. I'm sorry I can't remember the brand but they were at both Kohl's and Stein Mart.

Or what if you do buckets of different kinds of old fashioned candies?

Here's an idea:

Go here Economy Candy and fill each bucket with different flavored jellybeans stick your large lollipops in and create a larger lollipop from cardstock and stick it to a long dowel and write the name of the flavor in the bucket. Provide some glassine bags and everyone can scoop up some jelly beans to take home with them. You can even personalize the glassine bags with a round sticker with a cool catchy saying.
