Great idea!!! I am a teacher too and had issues this year with pencils disappearing!!! So I think I am going to take your mom's idea and glue the ugliest and biggest flowers on the top. The boys will definitely not want to keep them and will get more pencils quick....

 

You could also put some goop on the flower tops so they don't chew them...kidding..

Yeah, I am a teacher too and LOVE this idea... maybe a project for back to school procrastination? I would definitely go the huge, bright, colourful flower route.
