Catholic Destination Wedding

Hi, I am wanting to do a Catholic wedding also. Someone brought to my attention that weddings shouldn't be celebrated during Lent. March does fall during Lent season and was wondering if you've had any problems with booking. I've contacted a few WC in Italy and I keep getting different answers. I wonder if it's the same in Mexico.

Hello Shauna ,

I know this thread is a few months old, but maybe this information will still help, or hopefully help a future couple.

A couple we worked with recently had a Catholic ceremony in Peru. They got permission from the archdiocese in Lima to have one of the priests travel to the smaller village where the wedding was taking place in a small chapel. I know the couple went through a lot of red tape, but it was possible. They did this so they could have an English speaking priest perform the ceremony...he was actually from Ireland, and was awesome!

Maybe if you can find where the nearest archdiocese in the largest city or capital city serving the area where you want to get married, they can possibly help. Good luck!

Hi Shauna - I"ve been away from the forum for a while... but we got married at the JW Marriott in Cancun - they have an outdoor gazebo with a breathtaking view of the ocean that is authorized to hold Catholic ceremonies. This is the KEY reason whey we chose the location. The priest we had was American and spoke English. I will try and post up some pics soon. Feel free to PM me with specific questions.
