pick a location

Hi Everyone ..... My fiance and I have decided to look at a destination wedding as a possibility. We've been to the travel agent and they've given us piles of brochures, but picking a place is sooo difficult. We've never traveled to any of these locations, so we dont know what they're like, so I thought that I'd look to some of you to see what you have to say.

The only things that we're looking for in our destination wedding are:

- must allow children

- tropical destination

- all inclusive hotel

- I'd like to go to a place that isn't a bigger hotel chain or a big vacation spot, so no casinos, we'd like to avoid the crowd if possible.

I hope some of you can provide me with some insight with your own experiences.

Thanks!

I've never been to Mexico either. I picked the Dreams Resort in Cancun after a ton of research. Then after finding this site I found out it was a great decision. There have been tons of wonderful feedback about all the Dreams Resorts. Good luck.. use the search button at the top of the screen and put in a resort you are thinking of using. Maybe you will find some useful info.

Good Luck!

I've been to Mexico, and stayed at a Palace Resort, that's why we choose it.

The Moon Palace is HUGE. It's AI and is kid friendly, they have play areas and things for them to do.

Most of the reason we choose the Moon Palace is because we've stayed at the Cancun Palace before, so we know what we're getting. And if our guests stay 3 or more nights, certain excursions are included.

As far as avoiding crowds...Don't plan for a time when school is out! Avoid that week off in February (in NYC anyway) and spring break time/summer vacation.

Try not to get overwhelmed!!!!!!

we picked Dreams Los Cabos. Its smaller and does allow kids. From the reviews that I've read on the forum and from speaking with our travel agent, it has more of a boutique feel to it, and they also do amazing weddings :) hope that helps...happy planning!

Welcome! Picking a location is certainly the toughest decision - it took us four months - I started here researching and then came up with a list of about 10 places that I spent a lot of time comparing - one thing you may want to consider is how much you want guests/yourself to spend for a week all-inclusive.

We decided on the timing first - once we knew we wanted end of November we started looking at pricing of the 10 or so resorts. For us one big item was that we wanted a resort that only does one wedding a day - there are a limited number of AI's that do one a day so we were able to narrow it down that way. Then we looked at prices of the top 5 or so.

We were down in Mexio this past fall for a wedding and went to look at the Grand Palladium, Riu Riviera, Dreams Cancun, Bahia Principe and Paradisus which were our top five and ended up with Paradisus.

Hope that helps!
