Finally, invites are done/mailed! (long with pics)

Recommended Posts

I finally finished my invites! Like Galit mentioned in her invite thread, I feel as though Iâ€ve been working for more than 6 months! They were hell to make but well worth it. Iâ€m very excited at the end result! My BMâ€s got together on Friday night and helped me glue all the inserts and assemble the invites (and along with a few glasses of wine) we had a blast! My stamps came in on Saturday so Sunday I addressed, stamped, wrapped and finised all my invites!

Any how, Iâ€ll try and be as detailed as possible :)

Pocket Fold Template http://faculty.salisbury.edu/~rmlachance/pktemplates.htm

This website provides a ton of different DIY pocket folds. I was trying to save money wanted to make a pocket fold out of an 8 ½ by 11 sheet and also wanted it to fit in a No. 10 envelope since Iâ€ve read that it costs more to mail certain shaped envelopes. http://faculty.salisbury.edu/~rmlachance/images/templates/4x9horz.gif Or see my template attached (I tweaked it a bit)

Stamps.com ($$ even w/ a Costco discount) but nice touch, in my opinion! I ended up spending about $120 on stamps alone and these were mainly for response envelopes. I decided to hand out as many as possible to save costs on stamps!

I made 2. The green stamp was for the main envelope, the brown for the small rsvp.

A few hiccups:

-My printer doesnâ€t grab 4 bar envelopes, so I had to tape each one on a full sheet of paper to print.

-My printer doesnâ€t grab cardstock so I had to feed each blue sheet trough the feeder.

-I ran out of envelopes so I decided to add a simple card with the guests names to a few invites that were going to be hand delivered or mailed in bulk to one addy (out of the U.S.)

-I forgot that it can take weeks for mail to get back from out of the country so I decided to glue an insert on the back of the RSVP card requesting guests to respond online. (no pic sorry)

-the card pockets were ungluing (roller adhesive) so we moved to tape. I later realized that you need glue both sides so that the glue can grasp, if not it slides off the metallic paper.

Wow! Thank you ladies! I can say I worked VERY hard on these. FI was fed up with it all, but in the end he even said that he didn't want to hand them out in fear that they'd end up in the trash.

Its really a variation of invites I've seen on the forum. I fell in love with Anny's passports but knew I couldn't pull those off. KarlaV's invites were amazing too, but I didn't want to copy her design. I am so thankful that Kelley provided me with her template. I was looking everywhere for flowers like hers, but was ready to settle with another font/dingbat I found.

thank you so much also for posting your fonts. id been looking for helinda rook. i also totally fell in love with karla's invitations and have the photos of them saved to my computer. i almost had her design my invites, but my FI ended up not liking hers as much as i did, but she did give me some really good tips about how she did hers, and i have all the fonts she used now so i can give them to anybody who wants them.

i hope that the 4 bar template i sent you last week helped cheesy.gif
