Thanks lyrebard, I was actually looking at those last night. The box itself was what I was using as the 'fold' in a pocketfold though so that's why I wanted pretty boxes. I think I'm just going to go ahead and hand deliver. It's not that I love the invites that much - I just love the idea of not having to redesign my invites that much..lol.

On a side note, can anyone tell me how closely the Pool satin ribbon from Paper Source matches the Pool mailer box? I'm hoping for a really close match but since it's ribbon and paper I think it's a tall order that it would match closely.

Thank you so much for posting this. I also decided to go w/ boxed invitations and didn't think twice about the depth of the box. I'm in Ottawa and my family is in BC so I'm always shipping stuff out there for Christmas, etc. For big, fairly heavy boxes I usually pay about $15 and for small things in a bubble envelope about $1.50 so I just assumed the invitation box would be slightly more than that.... I had to check w/ the online rate calculator and, of course, you're right. This sucks! I have all my boxes and materials and was ready to assemble them tonight... thank goodness I read your post before assembling them all. I think my solution is going to be to cut down the box using an exacto knife or something and then line the edges w/ ribbon and hot glue - I hope it works! I can't hand deliver them w/ the distance (and also prefer the idea of mailing) so fingers crossed I can get this to work.

Thanks again for the info... it came just in time for me!

Okay, so now I'm considering mailing them from the states. I spent this morning reading the USPS manual (not a good idea...especially before coffee!) and I'm confused about two things. The first is your restrictions. This is what I found:

243.21 Envelopes and Packages

Minimum length and height: 5–1/2 inches x 3–1/2 inches.

Minimum depth (thickness): .007 inch.

Maximum length: 24 inches.

Maximum length, height, depth (thickness) combined: 36 inches.

But there's no Maximum depth. Are you allowed to mail as deep an envelope you want as long as it's not more then 36 inches total?

Also, I couldn't find anything about having the return address as a Canadian one - all I could find was that the receiving address and the return address couldn't be the same. Does anyone know if I can mail a letter with a CDN return address?
