I really like that! I agree that you probably dont even need a mirror beneath it... what about submerging a flower between the candle and beads?

How about just adding some more shells? I like the idea of blue marbles, makes it look like the shells are laying in carribean water. Love your ideas!!!

I agree with you about the mirror, BUT think about how much they weigh, it might not be worth it if you get charged a $75 overweight bag charge or whatever

 

For the empty space, I have seen this iredescent stuff that is almost like Christmas tree tinsel only not silver, you could float a small handful of those strands inside the water, it would help to catch the light off of the neighboring candles and also to fill the space.
