I know you said you know your body but have you thought about doing Atkins or the South Beach diet? It's not exactly healthy, but I did it and dropped 16 pounds in 2 weeks to fit into a dress for a friend's wedding.

If that is not an option, try David's bridal or somewhere that has sample dresses.

You are in Centerville right? I would recommend going to the boutique that I went to. It is called Bobbie's Bridal and is located on Waples Mill off route 50. I bought my dress off the rack and they have a lot to choose from. The seamstress I am sure can make any last minute alterations pretty quickly. Bobbie is great and she will give a discount for buying off the rack. Good luck and if you want any help, let me know. I work in Chantilly and can meet you at the boutique during lunch or right after work. Don't worry. You will find something.

I've got 8 years in the military, I know my body and how it works- so please no phoo-phooing it, trust me when I say it won't be gone.
Where can I get a dress with 2 weeks notice? I'm slightly pear-shaped, very simple taste and hate satin with a passion. Can anyone give any advice?? Oh geez....
Ok So I have no advice besides what everyone else is saying. I just want to sympathize with you. You would think having a wedding planned and dress hagning in a closet would help me loose weight but NO, I gain 15 pound. Not 5 but 15 pounds between buying the dress in October and trying it on a week before I was taking it to get altered in Febuary. Even the bra did not fit me anymore. So the dress has been at the seemstress for 2 weeks. She is mostly working on the length (I am 5'2) and I have to go back to her next monday. I have taken off 10 pounds so I have hope but i needed to loose 5-10 to be comfy to begin with. The dress zipped but barly. Owell, I have faith that it will work out OK for both of us. Maybe you will find your real dream dress now! Good luck, relax and happy shopping!

In addition to Nordstrom's and bridal boutiques, you might also try J.Crew, Ann Taylor (someone else mentioned them, I think, and they're having a 25%-off sale right now), and Target. Order any that look like your style, in different sizes, and you can return any/all.
