Hi Ladies- I found this local store in Red Bank and was curious if any of you have used them for your weddings or for other events or just shopping. It's called Shore Chic. I saw a thread on the forum about using sand dollars as escort or place card and LOVED it! Originally we were going to order shells w/cuts on the top to place the cards. Heres the link to the store and the sand dollars:

Sand dollars Personalized, hand written Sanddollar Escort Cards, seating place cards Gulf sand dollar, Florida Keyhole sand dollar, Arrowhead sand dollar, shells

Just looking for some reviews or any other info before I head out to Red Bank. Plus they're more than I wanted to spend so I don't want to get my heart set on a product if other's have had a negative experience.

Another question about possibly meeting up....I checked out our wedding dates and we have a few May brides. I'm figuring you would prefer to meet up after your weddings. Sooo it looks like June would be a good month. Let's figure out a few dates and narrow down a location. I'm flexible and am still interested in meeting up.

P.S. NJ Hunnie's wedding day is next Fri!! Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding!!

Hey all!

There do seem to be a lot of us huh? I am in Jersey City (I'm originally from IL) but went to Kean University and my FI is from Woodbridge!

We actually looked into having it possibly at Liberty State Park (it was the only place I would consider) because their restaurant and outside views of NYC are crazy beautiful! Their prices were OUTRAGEOUS. After that I realized just how smart we were to go away, especially being my family would have to fly regardless.

Hi ladies!

I'd love to meet!!!!!! Two of my Saturdays (19th and 26th) so far are booked up with Graduation parties. I actually got a STD card for one of them, LOL...

Kriz- Welcome!!! Yes, there are a lot of us Jersey brides here...we're all too smart to pay the crazy prices for a wedding around these parts. How's the planning going so far?

Hey Ladies, I'm Aisha and I'm from Maplewood. I guess when I started thinking about weddings and marriage I automatically wanted a DW because I love to travel, and it was while I was traveling that it first came to me, I wanted to get married at Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria Germany. I fell in love and wanted to get married. I soon got real and knew that wasn't happening cause you could afford it. But since then I've had the thought in my min and well now here I am. But I agree with everyone it is just too expensive to get married in NJ. My sister got married here and she paid $40K for her wedding and that was five years ago, and I agree with Jerseykitten, my mother would want to invite the states of NJ, NY and CT. (LOL)

Hi Jenny! I too am a Jersey bride from Morris County. We did not even bother to look into a wedding in NJ. We just cannot justify the cost and would prefer to spend the money on the down payment of a house or something. We decided on Isla Mujeres because we love it there. It's accessible, affordable as far as vacations go and our friends/family all like to travel. So far, no one has given us grief about it. And while we've already had a few snafus when it comes to planning, it feels a whole lot less stressful. I think planning an expensive wedding would result in unnecessary stress and that is not the point of getting married!

Check out this calculator. People in our town spend $27-$48k on weddings. It's ridiculous!

Average Wedding Cost $19,581 - Wedding Budget vs Real Wedding Cost

Wow, on that site where I live I would be spending between 22,000 and 39,000! Um yeah, much better spent on a down payment for a house and our future together. I honestly don't know why EVERYONE doesn't choose a destination wedding. None of my friends have had one and I would go in a heartbeat if one of them decided to! It just makes more sense to me.

Anyway, thank you for the welcome cristini! We are in the very early stages (2012) so I'm just gathering information from all of you and creating folders etc. on my computer of what exactly I like and want to use and then showing it to the man to give him a choice between A B or C..anything more than that and he'd start getting picky and I wouldn't like that. lol.
