I had a few girls get their makeup done there, and they all just used the spa's makeup. I have pictures of how their makeup turned out in my review.

I had them use their makeup for my eye makeup, but I did a consultation at Sephora to select the best primer/foundation for my skin type and tone before I left. Eye shadows and such can be pretty universal, but I wouldn't just assume they will have the best base makeup for you.

Hi Lovely brides!

Iâ€m a newbie but have been reading the blogs for a few weeks now trying to get my bearings. My fiancé and I got engaged about a month ago and we are flying through this planning process and getting married August 7th… so less then 2 months out (and no, I am not pregnant)! At first my friends and family thought I was crazy but the planning process really hasnâ€t been that bad. Almost everything with the Royal is booked already!

I know I have read posts about the Spa but I really hate to pay that outside vendor fee so I am just praying everything will work out okay if I bring pictures of exactly what I want and I bring all my own makeup. We are bringing my photographer with us and because he is a member of my family I told the resort that I wouldnâ€t pay the vendor fee and they said okay. So if any of you are flying in your photographer thatâ€s a tip you could potentially use to avoid that pesky vendor fee.

We are, pending weather, having everything outside… August heat, so I know it will be hot but I am hopeful the breeze will make it a bit more bearable. Any other brides out there that are trying to withstand the heat for a beach reception? Am I crazy to think this is a good idea?

Any and all tips are welcomed! Just over 50 days and counting and just started this thing. Guess the next think on my list is OOT items for the guests… besides oriental trading co any other cheap fun places to pick up items at a good price?

Welcome! We aren't doing an outside reception but I've heard from many brides that the breeze from the ocean helps out a lot, so hopefully that helps calm your worries a little bit. For your OOT bags you should really check out the dollar store, you'd be surprised how much great stuff you can find there. Also, read the threads from other brides about what people liked and didn't like in their bags. Some things I thought people would like I've read that they didn't like. From the dollar store I picked up boxes of water flavors (the things you pour in water bottles) because there are a couple people coming with us who don't drink. Plus it encourages people to stay somewhat hydrated :) I bought all of my OOT bags from the dollar store that are fairly nice totes. I actually bought WAY too many and will probably sell them on the boards here once I eventually get around to it. Be sure to check that board as well, lots of great items for sale!

Wow! So many beautiful brides from The Royal. I am very excited for everyone. I haven't posted much, but have read every post the last few months. My day is coming very soon, July 7th and am starting to wrap everything up! Literally. I have a repetitive question that I know has been posted a while back and guess I just want to be re-assured by recent brides about going through customs in Mexico with all the wedding stuff. My FI and I have been trying to do all the research we can to make sure we do all the right things.

Is it true that we can only take $300 in merchandise into Mexico? Why? Is it because they try to eliminate the re-sale of items?

Is the $300 per person?

Do we need all receipts?

No Made in China products?

We are up to 96 guests and have all our OOT stuff. I decided to take on the challenge of getting each one of them flip flops plus other stuff. I got many of them with gift cards, so would this technically count in the $300? (confusion. . .what a pickle).   Also, lots of the things we are taking have been personalized with our names so I just don't think that this items would cause a big fuss, but who knows. . .

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Rocio

Hi Rocio,

It is true that $300 per person is the max (not counting personal effects, wedding dress, etc.), if you don't want to pay duty/customs. You can bring in more, but it gets pricey fast. (And yes, it is to prevent people from bringing in goods to sell in Mexico tax-free). Reciepts will guarantee you don't have to pay fess for anything under $300. Not sure about the China Q or your personalized items. Check this link out for more thorough info: http://www.underwatercolours.com/mexican_customs.html. This is only if you get searched :)

Hope that helps a little!
