ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Yes! There is a bathroom near the edge of the pool nearest to the beach. I was at a wedding there in March- the reception was center beach so the bathrooms were right there. However, it was a shoeless wedding and the pool bathroom is, well, a pool bathroom. We simply went back to our room, which was just a short walk away & much better than using the pool restrooms. Hope that helps!

Believe me, I was going through the same thing, and seriously looking into alternatives to move everything 2 months ago, my wedding was falling apart before my eyes and I was half way across the country with no access to anyone that I had been working with since my WC was on maternity leave...)  ....but I kept trying to work with them, my TA got involved, I called the GM, I called the GM's assistant and I didnt give up until they treated me like a bride and not a bank account....I can tell you that things have gotten MUCH better, everyone at THE Royal is now very nice, they listen and have tried to work with us on things instead of against us.  Persistence does pay off, but be calm and assertive and don't let them push you around....this is YOUR day!  You do have to play by their rules, but they have the power to make the final desicions on what to charge you for...GOOD LUCK!!

Ok.. I need some serious advice!!!!!!!!! Ive been recieving feedback from guest about the Royal being too expensive and they rather stay at ____ hotel instead since its more inexpensive, or been there before. So im making my guest stay at the resort for various reasons. Now i have looked up the vpackages for these "inexpesive resorts' and i find that A) All the packages in Cancun are similar in price, not a huge differrence, B) some of these resorts poeple want to stay at is either the same price or maybe $50 cheaper.. this is crazy!!!! why are people doing this to me???? !! I was about to chage the rules and allow guest to stay wherever and just pay the double for them to come to the wedding but now looking at what i found.. why should i ??!!!! any advice?? My immediate fam are all staying at the resort..

DON'T. CHANGE. I remember seeing a post on here where a girl's guests convinced her to switch resorts and they STILL didn't attend. I'd try your best to explain how the difference is negligible, but more importantly, this is what YOU want (and as the bride, you have that right). even better if a close friend or family member can negotiate on your behalf.

I understand people wanting to get what they want out of a vacation, but they're not seeing how that is compromising your day. hopefully there will only be a few (if any!!) who insist on staying at a different resort, and maybe you can still accomodate them (or even make THEM pay the supplement - HA!), but I'd absolutely NOT change your plans based on their wishes.

I had a distant friend plan a destination wedding at another resort to Mexico, and I figured if I was spending the money to go to Mexico, I'd like to stay at the Royal. it never occurred to me to ask her to change the wedding location or accomodate me so that I could stay at our favorite resort. instead, I let her know I wouldn't be attending. it was that simple.

I was offered a choice between two main entrees. I am leaning towards the buffet though.

For now I just have one question....

So, I keep reading how most of you brides have been able to give your guests an option of the main course for your reception menu (i.e beef, chicken, or fish).  I have been told that I CANNOT give my guests the option.  All I can do is make a few special requests on the main course for the vegetarians in my party, but other than that, everyone has to eat the same thing.  Were you guys told different or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks in advance for your help...I am so addicted to this forum and everyone on here is so helpful!

Hi Jennie,

Which beef filet did you go with? Did they have the mexican coffee also?

Thank you

Also we only had 15 people but I ended up with 3 entree options, most people had the beef filet which was to die for, a few people ended up with the chicken dish and said it was good and 2 people opted for a vegetarian option. They are very accommodating, so anything you think you would like to have, just ask I bet they will make it happen. We actually done the same for the breakfast that they bring you the next morning we requested different things than they offered and it was no problem.

Hi there,

My wedding is less than two weeks away and I am havinga hard time getting a hold of my coordinator to get answers to these questions. Maybe you can help...

I was told that if you want to have an outdoor reception that it must end at 9;30 pm the latest. Is this actually true? I don't see anyone posting on this forum about how early this must seem. Receptions at home usually go until 1:00am at home. So now I have paid an extra fee to have my reception at the royal ballroom but I really wanted to dance under the stars. What menu option did you choose?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Every situation is different and I hope you all have the wedding of your dreams!  Remember the wedding isn't about the all the details it about you and your future spouse.

Hang in there ladies!!

I just did my review on Del Sol, and thought I'd share:

I kept asking my wedding coordinator about allowing the guests to choose between two entrees... she worded it that she could ask for the exception but that they would need to know exactly how many of each entree ahead of time.

Keep asking your wedding coordinator.  My original one wasn't that responsive, but when she left on maternity leave, I was given Ana and she's been pretty great.  She responds timely and tries to answer all my questions.

If you want to give your quests an option, keep requesting the Royal to make that happen - they can do it!

Newbie here!  I just set my wedding date for Nov. 10, 2012 at The Royal!!! So excited.  Very helpful info here!

We have requested a private reception for 50 guests to be inside a ballroom, but The Royal doesn't have a venue available, so they suggested the reception be at Gran Porto next door (sister resort).  Does anyone know anything about this venue?  The WC told me that the room holds 50 people MAX, so I am a little nervous we may be in a pinch if we have more than 50 people!  I really want to have the reception inside.  Looking forward to hearing from you all!!!

-Jenn
