ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies, for those of you just starting I thought I would share my wedding website. We are using it to communicate travel, accomodations for guests and manage the rsvps. I stole almost everything on my FAQ page from another bride and I'm sorry I can't remember who it was to give them credit. Feel free to copy and paste any info and pics. Hi Roza,

I had a similiar issue when I was figuring out my timeline.   In the end I have:

4:00-4:30 ceremony (your right they won't extend this without paying more money)

4:30- 5:00 BREAK - I didn't have to pay extra for this.  I escalated this to a manager and eventually they agreed.

5:00 - 6:00 Cocktail Hour

6:00-9:00 Reception

9:00-10:00 Extra hour - which i'm paying for.

I haven't worked with the onsite wedding coordinator yet as my wedding is in January.   I too feel that they are penny pinching me.

Good luck! let me know how the onsite wedding coordinator is.

Have any of you had resort issues with the wedding day timeline?

Here is what I want but the off-site coordinator is telling me that I will have to pay an additional $400 to have a 30 minute break within the timeline:

4:30-5:30 (1hr) gazebo ceremony (Royal is telling me I only get 30 minutes unless I am Catholic!!)

5:30-6:30 appetizers cocktails

6:30-7pm guest break to go back to room, change, freshen up, etc (Royal wants $400 for this break)

7pm-10pm private ballroom reception

10pm-11pm paying for extra hour of reception

I paid a ton for the Luxury wedding and am just so disappointed that they are trying to squeeze so much out of me when they know that I am committed to the resort now...my wedding is Dec 4, 2011. Plus, they are giving me a hard time about a 1 hour ceremony saying I only get that long if I'm Catholic.

I just paid my full fee yesterday so now I can work with the on-site coordinator. Do you ladies find the on-site coordinator more flexible?

I hope you are all doing better than me with the planning!

oh! oh! it's my FAQ! : ) thanks! www.jdandkellyswedding.weebly.com

and I think our dates will overlap! our wedding is on 5/5, and we're staying through 5/11 (though leaving that day, so we'll unfortunately miss yours.) but I'd love to catch up with you while we're there - we'll be on the honeymoon part then. : )

Hi Kellygrrl - thank you so much for those FAQ! You saved me so much time.  Would love to meet up.  We're arriving on Tuesday the 8th, so plenty of overlap to say hello.

Everyone - We sent out our invitations last week and I thought I would share.  I got the idea for message in the bottle invites off this website and used Mrs Weiss' posting for purchasing the materials: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/72777/message-in-a-bottle-save-the-date-invitations-pictures-instructions-and-prices.

Creating the bottles with the sand and shells was fun (I did purchase a funnel, so it was easy).  What took FOREVER was rolling the invites and tying them so they were small enough to fit in the bottles.  I wrapped hemp string through the invites and attached the string to the bottom of the cork with designer tacks - that way when the guests removed the cork, the invite would come out too (no sandy mess).

Instead of paying for boxes and shipping, we mailed them right in the plastic bottles.  The post office added two stickers - one for the postage and one with a barcode for the zip.  They did take up space, but there was still space on the back where you could see the contents of the bottle.

(I apologize for the multiple posts, but every time I upload multiple imagines in one post, it goes for review and then never seems to get posted!)

HI Brides,

I finally decided on The Royal-Playa Del Carmen and my wedding date is May 28th 2012! I am so excited! I was wondering how your guests booked their flights and rooms. I have been looking online for deals but the airfare is so high right now. I have contacted a few travel agents but havent seen much more of a deal for my guests. What do you guys recommend? Book online or go through a travel agent for only flights or flights + hotel. Also what have you been quoted for jr. suite? The quote I received seems a little high. Right now its going to cost over $2000 for 2 people. Also do you guys recommend a specific company for airport taxi?

Thanks so much! This site is great!!!!
