ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Hey all, 

 

I'm getting married at the Gran Porto on May 28 but we're moving over to The Royal for our honeymoon. I had a question about The Royal's dinner dress code for those who have been there. The site says sandals are prohibited and long pants are required. Do they merely mean flip flops? I have some open toed fancier sandals. And what about capris for women? I considered bringing some but didn't know if I could wear them at dinner. If not I'm going to have to up the number of dresses/skirts I bring.

the dress code is mainly in place for the men. my FI had no issues dressed in a nice, collared shirt, jeans and Sketchers dark sneakers - even at chef's plate. sandals are fine for women, and I think the capris would be good, too. : )

So, I'm back from an 11-day Disney vacation and ready to continue planning for our April 2012 wedding!

 

I finished our website (www.denielleandryan.com) for the time being and am sending out our save the dates this week!

 

So excited to see that so many brides were happy with their choice of the Royal!

saturday was my AHR and it was WAY better than i expected!

 

- we did a quiet (secret) intimate legal ceremony in the morning with our parents

- my BM came over to help me get ready (1 is a hairdresser 1 is a makeup artist)

- we went to take photos

- went to the restaurant, did tea ceremony

- guests arrived

- errgh, too many guests arrived and restaurant had to add a table (plus they screwed up on set-up in beginning) .... turn out was about 320 guest.....

- was some drama about seating and people not sitting where they were assigned  =(

- we came in, short speeches, eating begins

- we did our first dance (which we had lessons for and practiced for months!) super fun

- i changed into the chinese dress, went around the tables

- tried to eat but was too excited/nervous (i am SOOOO going to eat at my DW)

- changed into an evening gown

- checked out the photobooth, said goodbye to guests as they left

- danced the night away

 

some people complained about the DJ (they wanted rave music or something like that), and some complained why there wasn't any cake. FI ... uh....husband was too disoriented after my toasts at tables it was hard to do much else - we even skipped the garter toss.

 

all in all, was a lot of fun, went by really fast and my legs are sore.

 

NOW for the MEXICO!!! we leave in 10 days!!!

Congrats...soon be time to leave...YAY.

We used a IPod and we have no regrets....it worked out perfectly. I wouldn't have done it any other way. The reception is only 3 hrs long, so you have to take into consideration that your meal is a 3 course meal, so we only had about 2 hrs of dancing. So as fun as the DJ seemed to be it just didn't seem like it was worth all the money since the first 3 main dances took about 15 mins we really only danced for like 1hr and 45 mins. Don't worry it will be absolutely perfect. I hope you have an amazing trip!! Good luck

JoZee84- I am doing a legal wedding there. I thought about doing it here (privately) but I really wanted the first time we said "I do" to be in my wedding dress, and in front of our family & friends. I am not too excited about the blood tests, and everything else we have to bring... but I am excited about the day

I am trying to get everything finalized! I leave in 10 days!!! I can't believe that it is almost here. Lots of planning, but it will be worth it. Every review I have read gets me more and more excited! I finally finished my music for the ceremony and reception (we are using an ipod). That was stressing me out! but it is done! For those of you who used your ipod, (or CD's if you can) how was it? I hope that the sound system sounds great and it will be stress free. Thanks for all your help ladies!!!!!

Don't fret the blood work, I had myself all worked up about it and for the both of us it was like 2 mins. They only take a very small sample. We both said the shots that we had before we left were way worse. The doctor showed up at the marriage center, and she opens brand new needles for every person and takes a very small sample, like I said it was over in like 30 seconds. For the paper work, we just needed our tourist cards and passports. And the 4 days prior will give you time to get a nice tan and relax, it is an amazing place. I hope you have a great wedding.

Woman can wear whatever they want, it's actaully quite annoying....we saw women wearing baggy t-shirts and short with beat up sandals and nothing was said yet guys in jeans and button-on up shirts and nice leather sandals were being turned away and told to put closed toed toes on. The guys went and put gym shoes on, which looks way more casual and less formal than the nice leather sandals they originally had on and were let it.  It was pretty funny.

I am happy that you enjoyed ur chinese style AHR.  I am so anti-chinese style in general, now I don't know what to do...as I want to please my parents (my AHR sponsors) by having a chinese AHR, but ...

I guess I will do what the US government does with their debt-->kick the can down the road for now.
