ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

I wanted to do the same thing....we are having a group of about 30 people....and reasoning behind the fee is because they have to setup a semi private area for us, and have extra staff just to accommodate us....my WC said that the "all inclusive night fee" does not include private events....which makes total sense (even though i dont want to pay for it lol) so we are going to pay $15 per person to have a welcome/rehearsal dinner at Maria Marie......but i am a Royal in Cancun bride not PDC! ...............I didnt want to have to spend the money BUT we thought it was amazing for us to have dinner with everyone for about 2 hours....especially on their first night there...just to set the tone for the week! good luck planning ladies!

Is anyone else doing (or have already had) a semi-private reception? I'm just wondering how the time flowed from ceremony to dinner and what you planned for afterwards. I'm starting to want a private reception but I don't know if it's really worth the extra money for such a small group. We still have some guests in the process of booking but I think we will have 20-25 people. Did anyone do a private reception without a DJ and the light up dance floor? If so, how was that?

Just as an FYI - if anyone is looking for Men's Suits (light tan) they have a really good deal at Kohl's on their Ralph Lauren Chaps.  Can get Coat and Pants for $109.  If you are a card holder you get a minimum of 10% off and then $10 Kohls Bucks for every $50 you spend!

SweetLe,

My wedding is May 19th, 2011, and we decided to have a private reception. We have about 20 people going. I couldn't decided to do private or semi-private (because of the small group) but after reading many reviews, the private reception sounded like the best option. We also decided to go with using our Ipod instead of hiring a DJ. I hope this all works out. :) Good luck with your wedding!!!

Hi Gals!

Have any of you had issues with guests all of a sudden backing out of the wedding bc of all the incidents happening in Mexico? We've assured everyone that is not Playa del Carmen and none of those areas are near it. Plus the resort is private. We indirectly found out that my fi sister and brother in law decided to pull out last minute. They gave us multiple excuses - how lucky are we? I'm pretty upset bc I already paid for her dress. Luckily we hadn't bought the guys suits yet. I'm more upset at the fact that we called them about something else and then they were being weird on the phone and after teeth pulling - they told us. I wonder if and when they were planning on telling us. ggrrr......

Anyway - did any past brides pick the trio or quintet to play during cocktails? In the package it says Mexican Trio - is that the same thing as Mariachi?

I luckily have not heard the excuse of mexican violence, BUT i do have some cheapass people (LOL) who have the money to go and just aren't....which to be honest i have been able to handle pretty well.......BUT i would be very upset if my close family just pulled out last minute after already saying they would AND after your purchasing her dress! Good luck hun! But trust me i think we've all dealt with people pulling out for several reasons......my case is just cheap people lol

Hey ladies - I leave in 3 WEEKS!!!! So anxious... Anywho, I keep hearing people mention a checklist from the Royal WCs. I have not gotten any such thing nor has my WC even mentioned it. The only thing that I can think of is that we have mostly everything done at this point so we don't need a checklist. I dunno. Should I be alarmed ladies?  Does anyone have a copy of the checklist that they can share so I can see what's on it?

I just got my favors in yesterday, I will post a pic later since I am at work now.  Below are the things that we have done so far. Can you ladies take a look and let me know if I am missing anything? This can be very overwhelming and it doesn't help that I don't really know anyone close that has ever gotten married b4.

Pre Marital Class - LOL! We needed it √                     FI Suit √

Airport Transfer - Cancun Transfers √                     My Dress √                                           PENDING

Wedding Bands √                                                     Shoes âˆš

Jewelry – PENDING                                          MOH Dress √

BM Suit âˆš                                            Hair Appt @ SpaZul √

Makeup - Norma from MAC √             Photo - Cecilia Dumas √

Chair Sashes √

OOT Bags - IN PROGRESS

Programs - NOT STARTED

Reception Centerpieces - Royal √

Video - DIY (I know, I know...budget!) √

Wedding Party Flowers / Wedding Decorations - Marvin √

Favors - Brushed Nickel Picture Frames & Personalized Matchbooks  âˆš

Cake - Tres Leches / Chocolate √  (Are you ladies getting cake toppers? For the cost, I am not sure if it's worth it)

Reception Menu - Goat Cheese Spring Salad / Salmon, Beef or Shrimp Dish / Chocolate Pear Tart or something - lol! âˆš

Music: Ipod - Couldn't justify the cost of a DJ for 20 people, most of which are women (only like 6 men including my FI)√

Excursion - Private Tour to Xel Ha & Tulum (guests will pay $75, we pay the rest and it's optional to come) âˆš

Sorry for the long post!

Diahr-

Sounds like you have things organized, even if it doesn't feel that way!!  I am skipping programs and a cake topper.  I am also just putting one menu on each table.  Personally I never really saw the point of the program, especially at a small wedding.  As for the cake topper, I agree with you, expensive and what will you do with it after?  Gotta stay on budget somehow!

Couple of questions...What did you do for pre-marital counseling?  Thinking of that myself.  And completely unrelated...who did you book your excursion through?

You must be getting so excited!!!!
