I just spent the last few minutes catching up and can't believe that that TA had the nerve to come in here and go on and on like that!

i asked my WC about a little welcome party & this is the info i got for restaurants, occupancy:

 

If you do it at any Restaurant, they could only sit 9-10 guests at the most. For more than that you will have to request a Semi-private in any of the following restaurants: -Maria Marie, maximum 35 guests -Tapas N Pinxtos, maximum 20 guests -Pelicanos, maximum 20 guests -Asiana, maximum 35 guests -Spice, maximum 30 guests (Real guests $15usd each, Non guests $30usd each)

So I think if you have 10 people you can do a dinner at the restaurant without it being an "event"

Has anyone used the "house" DJ?  I am having trouble deciding between using my IPOD and paying $80 for a person at the hotel to operate it (with instructions from me) and getting a microphone ($80) for use for a few speeches.  I am not doing all of the traditional events (mother-son dance, etc) and really really want them to play only the songs I bring with me so it seems silly to use a DJ.   Can anyone who has been married already comment on this re the house DJ (as opposed to outside DJs which I have read the good reviews for) versus IPOD use experience??   I asked my WC if I can tell the DJ exactly what to play but I didn't actually get a response to that portion.  Also, I am having a 4 hour reception, so $980 seems a bit much to have someone play songs that I bring down with me!

 

I asked my WC about the DJ & got this info:

 

DJ Service equipment:  

• 02 Speakers JBL 15† 
• 02 Robotic Lights  
• 04 Par 64 Led’s  
• DJ Booth (With Mixer Rane and Double CD player Denon 4500, or turntables)  
• Wireless Microphone (Speeches and announcements)  
• Professional DJ (He can do the announcements)
• Souvenirs (Giant Balloons, balloons, light sticks, masks)   
• Music from the 70’s, 80’s to the best music playing today with different genres.  

  Price: $850 USD (1-3 Hours of service)   Additional hour $130 USD

JYD1- Lady DI said they were very nice and I don't think they got in the way but not sure lol you may have to check her review to make sure. But ya I agree use them during the ceremony why not? More pictures

 

orbitingbklyn - I believe the house DJ is DJ Ivan who I am using and he get awesome reviews on here. I think it is totally worth it. He brings cold fireworks, fun balloons and masks and really gets the party going. Plus than you don't have to worry about the 1st dance and all that other stuff. Just dance your butt off and have fun I know it is pricey though

We are using the "house DJ" for 3 hours.  Music is important to me, but not important enough to look for outside vendors.  We requested that we get "DJ Dorremix" and, of course, have not heard anything from our WC on if we can request DJs or not.  Also, we are doing a lot of the traditional reception items, so we do need a DJ vs. an iPod.  I intend to bring my iPod though for songs, in case the DJ does not have our specific music downloaded.

I too would be interested to hear more info on the "house DJ."

That's right!! I just quickly looked at them again. I just wanted to say that I met Lady Di in person and she is just as gorgeous or more in person as her photos. I bought a veil from her and it's perfect!! i couldn't help posing around in it! LOL...

 

Girls, are any of you married already and just having a symbolic ceremony? We got legally married this year so we wouldn't have to deal with translating paperwork and blood tests. So our ceremony is non-legal. We were thinking of asking one of our guests to officiate. Does anyone have any experience in this? I emailed my WC but the responses take a while and I know you ladies are much quicker!!

I don't have experience with this but I would say if if you can have a friend officiate, save yourself a few bucks I think that woulld make it extra special and meaningful.

How interesting! I did not see that in the video section. To reiterate, you do get a photographer and a videographer. I'm not sure if I want to use their photographer since I'm bringing one but as they say, if you don't use it, you lose it. There are absolutely no refunds or exchanges when it comes to the packages.

 

I'm using Ivan Luckie for photography, but I was mainly asking because I didn't know if i should spend the extra money on the sunrise package if it is virtually the same as the included video package (in luxury).

We are also having a symbolic ceremony and legally getting married here. I talked to my TA and the WC and was told that if we had a guest do the ceremony it was fine and there would be no charge. I figured it would be much nicer this way, instead of paying someone $400 for some random person to do it!

 

I am thinking all I need to do is print out some type of ceremony for them to follow. I think we are going to a sand ceremony as well.

I am having a symbolic ceremony also, we are doing the luxury package, I just got my final bill yesterday and was very suprised to see that the minister/officiant was not included in the price of the package, it is an extra $400.  I don't know if I am the only one that didn't think that would be included in the price of the package, guess I didn't read the fine details.  Just a heads up for those considering this package.
