ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Jesmcan are you taking about at the ceremony or at the reception? I'm now thinking about not doing the cocktail hour since we will have a 2 hour gap between the ceremony and reception and past brides are saying it wasn't worth it. Now I don't know how to have everyone seated at the reception for us to be announced. I'm not even sure they do an enterance if the reception is on the beach LOL

I did do a cocktail hour and if you are paying for it I recommend you not do it! It really was not worth it at all. The food wasn't very good, people appreciated the mariachi band, but they were so hot they just wanted to go into the lobby bar. It is ridiculously humid and hot out. Our wedding was at 2pm though, and that does make a big difference. If yours isn't until 6 then the cocktail hour wouldn't be so bad. It really is hot all day and night, but the breeze helps later at night. That is why I didn't really complain about my hair because I knew it would stay the way it was. I have stick straight hair and it turned into a fro and curled every day, there is no hope for it! Make sure you are comfortable and bring a short reception dress, you will definitely want one!

Sorry, one other quick note. We had a last minute addition to our wedding party so I had to get the bridal bouquet from the resort. The colors didn't match even though I sent them to them and the ribbon that they used for my bouquet didn't match the girls at all! If you plan on doing them all with the resort then no issues, but if only your bouquet is being done there then you should definitely bring some ribbon you would use for your bouquet. Just a bit of advice. Also, make sure that your flowers match. mine didn't and at the time I was just going with the flow because it didn't matter, but you can definitely tell in pics.

Hi Jenny - yes I mean for the reception. I don't know why I feel like it is silly ahahah but the bridemaids want to do it. I wasn't sure if everyone does this for a destination wedding.

Hi girls! Does anyone know if the resorts pass out the hotel maps when you get there? I was talking to my mom about all the stuff I need to print and she asked "Won't the resort have maps there?" and I said..."hmm I do not know but I do know who to ask, the forum!" Anyway just checking so maybe I can save some ink!

Thanks!
Thanks! Actually the blue flags are on all the cabana beds, they are there for you to raise and the waitress will know if you need a drink. :) I did contact the Blue Parrot, they sent me back some generic email with the same info that is on their website... They told me cover is $10 per person and that they couldn't give us a group deal, but then they let us all in without paying cover anyway so who knows! It's probably best to just play it by ear. See below for info on the jewelry!

Thank you! I LOVED my necklace!!!! I got so many compliments on it, and I was more excited about my necklace than my dress! Haha. I got it made from the designer at a little boutique Annabella's in Ann Arbor, MI...but they have sellers on Etsy.com that make very similar necklaces (and for a lot less!) I just didn't find them until after I had mine! Here is one seller I found: SaskiaVanRijn on Etsy but if you search "statement necklace" or "collar necklace" "bib necklace" "flower necklace" or something along those lines TONS of stuff comes up. You end up looking for hours though! I also found my bridesmaids jewelry on Etsy.com I think I paid around $240 for 6 necklace/earring sets which were silver/freshwater pearls. There are lots of shops in Playa with jewelry so if you don't find anything just head for 5th when you get down there! Lots of silver!

Save your ink! At check-in they give you a map that's not very detailed, but they circle where your room is, etc. and also there are signs all over the resort showing you which direction stuff is. It's a huge place but not really that hard to figure it out, in one day you'll have it down. Plus it's fun to take a walk around and find stuff!

Another thing I forgot...the Welcome/OOT bags... We passed most out ourselves and we only had SIX left for the end of the week so we asked concierge to pass them out for us...6 bags only. They said "Sure sure, no problem"... We gave them a list of the people, when they were arriving, and put name tags on the bags... 4 of the bags were mixed up and given to the wrong people, and 2 were never found. One of my bridesmaids never got her bag, so she didn't have her jewelry on wedding day. sad.gif They never took responsibility for this and just flat out didn't care, which was NOT the way the rest of the resort worked at all. Only concierge was like this. So just FYI, I would pass my own bags out and save the hassle! I thought they could handle 6 bags, but I guess not.

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining, because it seriously was the best week ever! Minor details, just wanting people to be informed of small stuff to look out for!

GREAT ADVICE!! I was curious too!!

Jess--we're announcing the wedding party for sure. I may have my BIL do it since he's quite the entertainer. My friends are like yours, totally want to do it, we always do it at the weddings. We may have them walk in or stand up and do whatever they want. When I figure it out I'll let you know.

I was out of town and WITHOUT INTERNET ALL WEEKEND. I was so anxious to get on the board. Um.....addicted muchhuh.gif
