ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

I'm kinda bummed that the Royal doesn't heat their pools :-(. I went to Secrets Capri Riviera last October and they didnt heat theirs either and it was extremely cold and uncomfortable......

We are supposed to have our reception on Pelicano's beach, but after reading Jen's post, I think it may be crowded looking (too close to the furniture and other people). I wanted to move it to the gazebo beach, but it's already booked. My WC said most people want Pelicano's beach but I'm not so sure.

Does anyone know how far the gazebo, the central garden and Pelicano's beach are from each other?
Pelicanos is the biggest beach location if you're looking for size. My fiance liked this spot the best. I think Gazebo beach is pretty but it's smaller and you're in between cabanas. So it really depends on how many people you are having

I have pictures of the pelicanos area from my site visit and I saw a picture of the gazebo area on the professional photgrapher website the other day. If i can find it I'll post it.

My wedding on Thursday was perfect. We had it at the Gran Porto Gazebo with a reception on the beach right afterward at sunset. The set up is gorgeous, the breeze is fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend wearing your hair up because of the wind. It's our last day here before we head further south to Tulum for our honeymoon and it hasn't rained once while were have been here.

There are lots of other weddings going on, but they all seem to be away from one another. It's really not a big deal. The resorts are so large that there's plenty of room. The Gran Porto Beach is much less windy than the Royal. I like it better. The Royals' gazebo is a lot nicer that the Gran, mainly do to the roominess around it and the ability to have your guests outside the gazebo. Do THAT if you can. The light inside the gazebos is HORRIBLE and makes for yucky pictures. Unfortunately, we HAD to be inside the Gran gazebo because there is just no space there.

Zulma was fabulous as was the staff for the wedding. We ended up going with a DJ and is sooooo worth it. They have lights and fun music. Worth it completely. I canceled the video taping which I regret a little. The ceremony itself goes by SO INCREDIBLY FAST. I didn't have time to soak it all in enough. You are so emotional and overwhelmed, you can't focus. I don't even remember where people were sitting! LOL. I wish I had the video to watch it all over again. The biggest thing I remember is just how much I love Rob and how beautiful the setting was. That's the most important thing right!

5th avenue is just a block away and it is SOOOO cool! Hip, fun, upscale and charming. It has a very European al fresco feel. We did a photo shoot there last night and it was a blast. We tried to get into the Tulum ruins yesterday morning for pictures, but they were VERY rude and WILL NOT allow professional photographers or brides into the archeological site. I was sooo sad about that. Be forewarned.

I'll give a better review when we get back. My pro photog is a colleague of mine, so he downloaded all the images onto my hard drive last night before he left. I'll proof and post some when I get back next week.

PS. Lots of sand fleas on the beach. Wear bug repellent! Also, don't drink the water or eat dairy. A couple of family members got a little sick while we were here. The sun is very hot.

For the brides who are concerned about the details of their wedding. Don't be. It'll make you crazy. They take care of EVERYTHING here for you. It truly makes the experience easy and unforgettable.

Once you get here, the details don't really matter at all that much anymore......

Thank you so much for sharing! I will be getting married in the Gran Porto Gazeebo too. Every good review, just makes me feel less and less stressed about it!

I'm so nervous about myself or guests getting sick while we are there! I obviously know only to drink bottled water (even though they say the water on the resort is purified), but I didn't even think of dairy!!

Hi Msglave I have seen all the beaches and I know this is not helpful but it really is tough depending on your situation.

How many people are you having? If you are having 40 or more guests I highly recommend the beach by Pelicanos. It is right by the pier but it is the biggest beach. Also you have your wedding later like 6pm reception there is no one walking around down there so you will be fine.

My favorite is the middle beach. However it is a lot smaller and also its right next to the entrance of the royal where are the pools are. There is also all these cabanas riht behind it.

I like the area right in front of the gazebo a lot to but you always run the risk of this beach getting ashed away and not being there. Especially in the winter months.

So really it depends on how many people you are having.

Thank you! We are having our reception at 4:30. We already have 23 booked. I'm thinking we are going to end up with about 30 or 35. I have seen pics of some of the beaches and the ones that you can see the cabanas in are not my style. Do you think the beach we have is good for this? I mean will people be surrounding our reception?

Thanks!
