I've been going back and forth with this for weeks now. My fiance' thinks that 3 hours will be long enough, but to me I am figuring it will take at least an hour to finish dinner, and that only leaves two hours for dancing. He suggested that we take those who want to keep the party going to the Blue Parrot. Our wedding is on a Friday and they have a nightly beach party here with fire dancers on Friday nights. Supposedly this is the place to go, so we shall see.

I think you should splurge on the extra hour. Your guests are paying $$ to go to your wedding and it would be nice for the extra hour for them to get more drinks. I believe they would have to pay for drinks at Blue Parrot, right? One hour isn't that long.

This may sound like a REALLY dumb question, but I am assuming the DJ will play music while everyone is eating dinner right? I can just imagine hearing crickets chriping in the background...

When are y'all using the Mexican Trio/Mariachi? My WC suggested during the cocktail hour.

The reason i am using an outside company and not the royals furniture is because I didnt like the furniture that they use, its like two long sofas... the company i am using is charging $175 per set which includes a table, two ottomans and two sofas... this way its more of a lounge feel rather than two long couches. If anyone wants there information let me know and i'll send it.. it turned out to be cheaper even with the fee to use this outside company.

This would be cheaper, but I have a 350 vendor fee!

Ladies,

I was thinking about the florist and the rose petals bag. Lady Di, is your florist close by, like on 5th? If it's just rose petals and a bouquet, couldn't someone walk over, get them and bring them back. This would save on delivery and a vendor fee.

Why doesn't The Royal allow a sand ceremony? Maybe we can do it during the receptionhuh.gif

Does anyone have photos of the lounge furniture that The Royal rents? Being that I have a $350 vendor fee and have to stay on budget, it will probably be best for us.

Can you keep us posted on this? My wedding is on a Saturday. This Friday night event may be really nice for us to hang out!

I agree! We have about 3 hours in between our ceremony and reception. Our parents are hosting a cocktail hour at one of the resort bars. I think this is how he gets that people will be okay with going to another club. He figures that they will be tired of hanging around the resort all day. Also, i think that this is one of the few nights some people have planned to leave the resort. I think we will keep the reception at 3 hours for now and then see if we can decide on the extension then. If we're not ready to leave then hopefully we can just fork out the money and they won't make us go anywhere.

We got these steel drum cd's online that we will play during dinner. It's really relaxing and caribbean style music. They are pretty cheap, too. I think I paid 25$ for both of them. One is actually a cd made for weddings with the bridal march and all on it. Everything is done in steel drums. I will post the link when I get home. I do not have the link on the computer at work

Quote from Angie:

You can write your own vows if they are not very long, but you cannot do the sand ceremony during the legal wedding with a judge.
