We priced the resort photographer out and it was pretty high in comparison to other vendors. Now i'm not so sure since they are charging a fortune to bring outside vendors in. At the time it was only $100 extra. We are using Cecilia Dumas.

I am also debating between Cecilia Dumas. I still get the $100 outside vendor fee rather than the new one since I booked by wedding before December 8 when the rates changed. It's not that much more to go with Cecilia, so I think that is probably what I am going to do. Does anyone know if the resorts' photographer will go around town with us and take pictures? Those are some of my favorite pictures.

Thanks!

The policy at all resorts that if they sell out the guests who have booked elsewhere will still need a day pass- the Royal has been incredibly popular this year-probably the hottest resort in Riviera Maya for weddings! They allow children at the weddings & reception plus the prices are amazingly low, still about 30-45% lower than what we saw at the beginning of last year! That also explains why the wedding department is overwhelmed!

I can not stress enough to have your guests book ASAP and that if the resort sells out-which is highly likely- that they are responsible to pay the day pass!

That should get them to hurry up!

my wedding is in april at The Royal on a Friday, most people r just NOW looking into booking. Well, Now the Royal is sold out thursday and Friday so people cant go there. The Gran porto is sold out on Friday night (wedding night) so people have to go elsewhere for that night. its just a nightmare and i didnt realize how fast these resorts can book up. half my guests havent even booked!
My wedding is on Sunday April 25th and I had a hard time getting my sister a room this week for her stay. She will have to stay Wed and Thu at the Gran Porto and then move over to the Royal for Fri - Tue. Our invitations just went out today so I'm worried that anyone else trying to book isn't going to get a room!!! I never thought the rooms would be sold out 3 months before the wedding!! At least we have 33 people booked so far!

I think they're good, but like Lady Di, they didn't do the style we are looking for. We're using Victor Herrera (Victor Herrera Wedding Photographer Cancun and Riviera Maya | Mexico Destination Wedding Photographers | International Wedding Photographer). We booked before the rate change, though, so luckily we're still at the $100 outside vendor fee. Here's his pricing info http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ography-53033/

Does anyone know the options and prices for alcohol during the dinner reception and afterwards? I received all the package info, but don't see anything about alcohol apart from the toast. Thanks.
As far as I know, the alcohol is included in the dinner price (except for the champagne toast, which is like $5 or so per real resort guest). I'm not 100% sure on exactly what is included in the bar. I just assumed the same stuff thats available for all-inclusive will be available at the reception bar. Anyone know this for sure?

I was also told that you have to pay a per person charge to arrange a rehearsal dinner at one of the restaurants at the royal or gran, i think it was $15 per person.

But what if my wedding group, went to one of the restaurants at The Gran Porto (since Most people are staying there if not at the Royal) and we got there early and saved a few tables and the big group of us sat down normally like we would for a dinner. This way we dont have to choose one meal option for everyone from the choices the wedding coordinator gives us, instead everyone chooses what they want to eat off the menu just like they normall would do for dinner that night at their resort.

What do you guys think, can this work? I remember a past bride said she was going to try to do this for her rehearsal dinner but never heard if she went though with it..

Also - anyone who has eaten at the restaurants at The Gran Porto - any restaurants you liked the best or think would be best for a party of 25?

Thanks!
heyy when we went the italian and mexican restuarant was great! def for 25 people. mexican rest is outside and italian is more intimaite inside but it was hott in august.
