Anyway, thank you again for your thoughts! I am trying to get back into the swing of things and just replied to the PMs you all sent. Please let me know if I can help you out in any way. My biggest advice is when you meet with your WC, be very specific in what you want. Bring pictures, write out all the details, etc. I know you have all worked so hard in your planning and it is so important that all of your ideas get conveyed to the WCs. They are very willing to accomodate you, but you just have to let them know what you want. Good luck!

That will be my one big regret about having a Destination Wedding is leaving my dog back home alone. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I know how that feels sad.gif

I paid my deposit recently to the Royal...good grief! With the Canadian Dollar bottoming out...my 300USD deposit, cost me $412.50CDN!

Ouch...I am really hoping our dollar goes up a bit (I'll settle for .80 on the US dollar) before the Spring, when ALL of our wedding stuff will need to be paid for!

:S
Shay, as always, thanks for any info! I completely understand on the deposit. It is wild how all the expenses of a DW add up. My FI and I updated our budget last week. We still have SO much money to spend. Ugh! But, we know it will all be worth it on our big day.

Whoa, Geminie!! That video was breathtaking. It makes me rethink my decision not to get a videographer! The production quality was amazing. Thanks for sharing that. But, I do see what you mean about the spectators on the beach. Has anyone thought to make cute signs to post in the sand that say something like "Please Respect Our Privacy During Our Special Moment"huh.gif Maybe that would at least help... Just a thought.

So sorry to hear about your pup! We've got 2 that our like kids as well, so I really feel for you.

I have to totally agree with meeting with the wedding coordinator. Make sure to ask questions and be very, very specific. Also, Micaela had a ton of photos of other weddings to check out before you commit to anything.
We found that most of our decisions were made during our on site appointment, just a few days before the wedding.

Ladies, you are all always so wonderful when one of us has a question... I have about a million swimming around in my head today about receptions and my budget squeaks it's so tight!!! Can ya'll help?

What is included in the reception cost as far as decor and floral is concerned? I can manage the cost for food, but much more just isn't going to happen!

It was a slow night at my house tonight, so I've been looking through the history of "our" little thread- all 60 pages now! Aeroo (if you're still around!), I saw that you uploaded your reception quote... did you add much to it as far as decor? What was it like for all of your guests to have the same menu? Anything you would recommend steering clear from as far as menu items?

Thanks in advance!!!

The decorations included are pretty basic. We just had plain white table clothes, and white chair covers, with no floral centerpieces (except the head table). There was one floral arrangement included in the ceremony package which we used for the ceremony table, and then the head table for the reception. She had a book with about 15 different ones we could choose from. When we started to add everything up, centerpieces just seemed like a waist of money.

The food was amazing. Everything was very classy and our guests like the idea of having the waiters bring and take away the plates. They were really good with the drinks too.

Our menu was: Seafood salad (shrimp, calamari, scallops...just a couple of each, not really a normal salad)

Three Fillets consomme (was delicious - kinda like small strips of meat in broth)

Fillet Mignon and chateau potato (so tender you could cut it with a fork)

and Strawberry & vodka thousand leaves (so incredible - everyones favorite).

What we did is pick our menu 7months prior. Then we got down there and talked over the menu with micaela. You can pretty much change anything you want once you get down there. The only thing you want to do ahead of time is if you want orchids.

Hope it helps!!

I was starting to panic because I haven't received a single reply to the various emails I had sent to my WC, Laura. She is (was) the wedding manager at the Royal and I finally received an email from the "new" WC today. I was so relieved to find out that my wedding has been reassigned to Zulma. I couldn't be happier because I've heard so many good things about her from this forum. So, to all the brides out there who may have Laura as a WC, get into contact with Zulma and she will take care of you.

I am so happy with Zulma already. I received more info from Zulma today than I EVER received from Laura. I'm willing to bet that's may why she no longer works for the resort.

This has all made me feel so much better. I was soooooo nervous because I was never asked for a deposit. Zulma sent me the information right away about the deposit and I wrote out the check right away. smile159.gif
