ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

thanks  =)   lol, when budget is limited, gotta DIY.

people these days huh?!? no respect, rude. lol, it makes me laugh everytime when i think he thinks he's afraid he might get kidnapped.
i hate wasting things, let alone wasting money! sorry to hear about your FI's sister - that's a bit sneaky to go direct to the TA.

but we're all going to have fabulous wedding, so much fun and they're going to regret what their actions.  cool.gif

we're doing the ipod, as much fun and wonderful as the DJ and light-up dance floor would be, we can't justify the cost based on the amount of people we have. in the beginning it seemed like we would have around 30, but as "reality set in" we had 20 booked (,inus 1 more now) so i'm glad we decided to stick with the ipod. i'll probably pick up some glow things just to add soem "fun".

So sorry to hear about your FI's cousin. That is just rude and terrible. We're going through a similar issue with his sister. She didn't even bother to tell us first or ahead of time - so now I own a dress that cost me $200. We totally could have helped her with expenses if that was the real reason. And get this - she canceled with our travel planner first and told her to not tell me! Imagine my surprise when I talked to my travel agent. Good times.

In your situation - I agree you're better off without that person. He sounds like a grump! How nice he thinks he's kidnapping worthy. LOL... All you can do is take a deep breath!

oh! Are you doing a DJ or ipod? We thought we would have closer to 30 but it looks like it's just barely over 20.

thanks!  lol i think i may have gone overboard on those matchbooks.

Hi PlayaWedding!

Unfortunately the resort does not provide any type of centerpieces. I don't even think they do tealights but I could be wrong. Of course they'll be more than glad to arrange it for you at a high cost to you. They do provide white linens and white chair covers - which is why most of the girls on here bring their own colored linens and sashes. Most of us are using Marvin from Maya Diseno Floral. He's very affordable. Turns out you can rent some items from him as well - which is one less item to lug in your suitcase.

Hopes this help! cheers.gif

Does the royal provide any type of centerpieces for the table with any of the packages? We are going with the Eternal Romance package!

Also some people mentioned they bought linens for the tables..I thought this type of stuff was taken care of if you purchased a package...anyways. I know they do not provide table runners and colored sashes for chairs but for the reception do they cover the tables and head table with white linen?

Thanks so much!!!

when i was looking at him, he said he can drop off just outside the hotel or at the lobby. cash only.

then my WC said if the resort staff don't need to help with setting anything up, there's no charge. however, there are a few different variations about this sort of thing floating about this sort of thing so it's best to verify with your WC - juuust in case.

Hey rosieposie / JHarris - Sorry about all the family drama. All of us destination brides have been there at some point in time or are still dealing with the drama. I have had so much of that crap, but now I am just over it. We leave next Wednesday and I am ready to parrrrtaaay!!!!

There is so much to do! JHarris - Your pics came out fab!!! Love your dress and your makeup!  I had my makeup trial at MAC over the weekend and it came out GREAT! I am just hoping now that Norma from MAC in Cancun can duplicate the look.  I am going to send her over the colors that were used on us tomorrow.

Here's a question for everyone --- Are you ladies doing a different dress for the reception? I love my wedding gown but I feel like it may be too heavy for the reception. I almost feel like I am cheating on the dress if I switch into something different. Also, I don't want to spend a fortune on a reception dress that I will only wear for a few hours at best..

Any suggestions?

One more thing - Shhhh! My FI and I were legally married last week (we are doing a symbolic ceremony). The process was so easy. We simply filled out a marriage license with the office of vital stats.. I walked downstairs and put us on the judge's calendar.  Meanwhile, we had to wait 3 days for the marriage license to be official. After that, we went to court and got it done.. I am not really even acknowledging that "it" happened because I don't want to take away from our real wedding day when we say our vows to each other. I didn't tell a soul! Just you ladies here on the forum know. We used my FI's distant friend (that is not coming to the weddding) and his friend's sister (that I have never even met before) as witnesses.  There was no exchange of rings or celebration either. This was just business. The best part, the whole thing only costs $28 (the cost for the marriage license). The municipal judge (in NJ) did it for free! The only thing that sucked was the privacy factor. The judge would have done it for us in his chambers before traffic court, but my FI missed his train. Soooo we had to do it in traffic court, but the judge waited until he cleared out 98% of the courtroom to take care of us. It's okay though, the people got a little surprise with their traffic fines! LOL!! We will most likely never see them again anyway so it didn't bother us at all.

As far as the dress question, i feel like you should spend as much time with your dress on......it's the only day you'll get to wear it so why not! everyone loves a bride who can party all night with her beautiful gown on! msnwink.gif
