How long did you date before enagaged?

We have been together for 9.5 years before he proposed to me. We even bought a house and had a kid during those 9.5 years, lol. Now we have been together for 10 years total and finally tying the knot.

My FI and I started dating on Valentines Day 2000. We got engaged in September 2000. We waited as we were moving around with work for a few years. Then decided to buy first. Finally decided to tie the knot in 2011 but FI got made redundant. Postponed to Valentines Day 2013 but mother got diagnosed with cancer and passed away in December 2012 so cancelled. Started talking about it again later that year but then FI's father passed away.

 

No fuss now...We are eloping in October 2015 and doing it our way!!

 

So all in all a very long engagement....just over 15 years!!
