How long did you date before enagaged?

We have known each other for four years.  We were together a little over a year and a half when we got engaged!

We dated long distanct for 6 months.  Then I moved to Chicago and we lived together for two year and a few months before we got engaged.  Now we are getting married a 3 years and half after we met.

We starting dating in September of 2008, He proposed on Halloween 2010 and will be married in May 2011 and can't be happier!

We may have everyone beat with the shortest courtship! We met Jan 15, 2010 and were doing LDR until June when I moved from Chicago to LA and right into his apt. We had our own place together by August (four freak incident surgeries on my part later), and got engaged Sept 11 while in Vancouver. Getting married in Nov 2011, a couple months short of two years. 

 

You just know... <3  I've been in other long term, serious relationships. But this was entirely different and the most natural experience I've had in my life.

I know the feeling Vettie We're getting married just less than a month after our 2 year anniversary! (There was the 5 years where we were friends online LOL). That's the thing about long distance I guess, you don't have the "seeing eachother every other day" thing, the first time I'd EVER met my fiance..he stayed at my house for 2 weeks!  That first year we visited back and forth, I think we totalled 7 weeks together out of the year? Then this year we've lived together almost the whole year. I dated my ex for 5 and a half years (since we were just kids), but that whole relationship didn't have me feeling as loved, or as in love, as this barely 2 year one I guess TV is right...you just "know"

Couldn't agree more myself!! I've had a few other serious relationships before. Shortly before FI and I met, I went through a horrible break up from a really serious relationship. But the entire time my ex and I were together it never felt as comfortable or as natural as the moment I met FI. I knew instantly we'd be together and something was so different. He was single for 8 years before we met. EIGHT YEARS, WTF?! LOL We did so much traveling, serious frequent flier miles, but it was all so worth it. I picked up, left Chicago, and moved right into his apartment less than five months after we met.

Eight years together next month and we have never been happier!!

Wow, I thought 4 years was long even though that is about the same amount of time my other friends usually got engaged in.  I guess I am quite normal.

I have known my FI for over two years.  When we get married, we will be one month shy of 3 years.

We got engaged just before our 4 year anniversary, a few days after we found out we were pregnant.  Haha, it sounds bad, but it's really a funny story.  He was planning this HUGE engagement, had the ring already, etc., when he found out we were pregnant.  So he proposed then instead.

 

We'll be married just after our 6 year anniversary.
