Welcome to the forum!

How did you guys come to Rincon as a destination? Most people have never even heard of it. You have to promise to try to keep the place somewhat of a secret though. Can't have it getting too popular.

If you need ideas for where to eat, what to do and all that stuff just let us know.
My family is from Arecibo which is not far from there. Rincon is also known throughout Puerto Rico fo it's beautiful sunsets so it seemed appropriate for a destination wedding. It is also a far cry from San Juan which everyone is familiar with so we liked that unique aspect.

Sure recs would be great. Do you have any rec's for guests activities? When we scouted the area we didn't get do do many activities just driving around and looking at venues.

Very cool. On our way to Rincon from San Juan we stop at a McDonalds near Arecibo on Route 2 to get a snack to hold us over. Next time down there I really want to see the Arecibo Observatory. That looks really interesting.

As far as recommendations.... there is not a whole lot to do in Rincon, but it is a fun town.

Eating: Rincon Tropical (cheap Puerto Rican food. Awesome mofongo). The Tapas Bar at Casa Islena (very romantic setting with wonderful Spanish inspired food for good prices). Panderia Libonese (right in the center of town. great no-frills breakfast for unbelievably low prices. We got breakfast for two and 2 packs of cigarettes for $11). The Spot (we have not been there but everyone says it is the best place for fine dining in Rincon). Calypso Cafe (casual place. Filled with surfers at the end of the day. You can watch surfing from the outdoor patio). Banana Dang (smoothie & coffee shop near The Lazy Parrot. awesome smoothies and the only good coffee I had while down there. La Rosa Inglesa (great breakfast place up in the mountains. awesome views. great food).

Drinking: Tamboo Tavern (one of the best bars I have ever been to. Right on the beach with good prices, live music sometimes and a great atmosphere). Rock Bottom Bar & Grill (feels like a treehouse. Low low prices and good people working there). The Rum Shack (at the Lazy Parrot. Another great spot. Reggae Night on wednesday is a lot of fun with a live band). Kasa Vieja (in the center of town. mix of locals and tourists. cheap as can be. lots of fun to meet people there).

Things to do: Boat trip to Desecheo Island (snorkeling and such included). eat. drink. watch surfing. repeat. We go to Rincon to relax, do nothing and sit on the beach all day. Aside from surfing, that is what most people do there. Within a reasonable drive there are some interesting things to do though. Day trip to Old San Juan, trip to the rainforest, museums in Ponce, zoo in Mayaguez, casinos in Mayaguez, Arecibo Observatory, etc.

Thats all I can think of right now. Check out the links below to get more ideas for Rincon.
