Oh, last question, did you get the stems or the heads? How many did you actually order? I only have about 20 fans to do so I'm not sure how many I'd need.

I got the stems b/c it came out cheaper. there are 9 orchids per stem.

Leia, may I ask where did you get your ribbon from? Did you get it at a good price? I'm trying to decide if I'm going to get pink raffia fans ($10 for 10) or just buy the natural color fans (12 for $5) and glitz it up with the ribbon and flower like you. The natural color fans are so much cheaper, but if i'm going to spend $$$ on flowers and ribbons I might as well get the pink ones I love.

I bought my ribbon from a party warehouse store in San francisco, called Fantastico. It was $3.25 for 25 yards. I think the pink ones are really cute too. It's just that i wanted to incorporate my flowers.

I'm sorry, but can you post the link on how to make these? I searched but couldn't find it.

Do you just wrap the handles in ribbon and then glue the flower?
Kudos to Tara (Tkim). She was the one that helped me! Here are her instructions:
I first cut the flowers off the stalk and left a 1 inch stem. I poked the flower through the fan, and then taped the stem down using double stick tape strips.

I then cut the ribbon and began wrapping at the left side of the handle and around to the other side. Then I wrapped the ribbon once or twice around the base of the fan (right below the orchid). To do the criss-cross thing I took Courtney's advice and used a butterknife. I picked a hole/slit on the fan near the flower, and then just pushed the ribbon through to the other side using the butter knife.

To get the ribbon to lay flat, I used A LOT of round double-sided glue dots. I tried to make sure that most of the ribbon was secure with the dots, otherwise, I found that the ribbon either curled or ended up slipping when you try to actually use the fan.

Also, to avoid the ribbon from curling/folding, I pulled it really tight before pressing it over the glue dot. Some of mine are still folded a little bit but I'm going to let those slide. =)
