Sand Ceremony if Getting Married In Chapel?

Recommended Posts

So, I was originally going to just go the Unity Candle route since we'll be getting married in the chapel at EDR. However, the sand ceremony idea has been bumping around in my head. Is it strange to have a sand ceremony if we're getting married in a chapel (yet one that's one the beach)? If so, is there a way to incorporate our mother's lighting of the candles before they're seated? Or can they do something with the sand before they're seated? So many little details to think of that I hadn't thought of before!

Hi Jennifer. We are getting married in a church and omitting the unity candle so we can do the sand ceremony on the beach. We will do the church ceremony first. Then go back to the hotel and have a cocktail hour by the pool (to break things up since it will be a full Catholic mass). Then we will do the sand ceremony. And the reception will follow. It seems like a long day but I really wanted to do a sand ceremony and have pictures with the beach and ocean in the background since we won't get that at the church.
