Hi Girls,

On our experience, we totally recommend a dance floor.. as you know dancing on the sand can be tough & tiresome.

It’s more comfortable to have a dance floor; this will guarantee a great party and having everybody dancing. Also it will look perfect for your first dance!!

Adding my 2 cents....

We got married on the beach in Mexico in December and opted for the dance floor.  I think it was a great decision - while the dance floor did get sandy, it wasn't slippery and we had people up and dancing almost all night.  There was never a time when the dance floor was empty.  It was easier to dance on the dance floor than it was to walk in the sand, but our beach was a very powdery sand.  Plus, we had some older people (my husband's mom is 86) who probably wouldn't have danced if we didn't have the dance floor.

I think the dance floor is a plus but not a must on the beach, specialy if you get married in Riviera Maya where the the sand is powdery and cool. Yes, it is more comfortable,  and makes the whole design and decoration look nicer but if you are on a budget or prefer to spend more on flowers, rentals or time for the party is ok not to have one.
