Is dress shopping usually this mind consuming??

Anyway I just wanted to re-state that you should NEVER under any circumstanc es try on a dress you cannot afford - not matter how much you are not expecting to like it. I was literally just goofing around when I tried on my dress... and well - there are enough posts up about my dress buying fiasco...

FYI In the end I bought it anyway!
Ditto. I tried on dresses that cost way more than I planned on spending. Oops. I bought mine anyway as well. But I have to say - that dress looks gorgeous!

I remember I obssesed over a dress I saw in a magazine, I even wen't to Dallas to try it on.. I loved it!! I was about to buy it.. but then I saw another hehehe and since it was double the price I'm having it made.. but now I don't want to touch a wedding magazine... I know if I see another I like I'm going to change my mind!! it's really hard!!!

I had a really hard time too! There are sooooo many styles to chose from! There were 2 dresses I LOVED and could not stop thinking about...but after a few more stores weeks later...I found a completely different one. They always say, "once you know, you know" but I didn't feel that way. I LOVED so many I tried on. It is so hard to pick just one :)

My mom, dad, MIL, and soon to be sister-in-laws all had to help me decided. It was just too hard and that was all I thought about :) The dress you posted was amazing. Good luck to you! Take your time and my best advice is to not impulse buy.

Thanks everyone! I've got appointments at 2 more salons on the 20th and

21st. From there I'll either have a few more I like, or know the one I love now is the one for sure. I'm trying to get my mom to fly out in Feb so we can go to all 3 salons and look at any I've narrowed it down to. I'll need fresh eyes to check it out by then.

Thanks for all the advice!

Kate I think that's the perfect plan. Even after I found the one I wanted I tried on about 100 more dresses! I am SO happy that I was able to try on the one I ended up buying with my mom. I actually really wanted to fly her out here again to see it a second time before I bought it (it didn't make sense in the end). I think having oyur mom's opinion will really help. I knwo for me hearing her tell me to go to the store, buy the dress, not to try on any more and that that was THE one took about 100 pounds off pressure off my chest. If she could say that then I knew that was the dress. Also you have LOTS of time before you have to commit to a dress (6 months out or so the stores are saying you should at least have it narrowed down). My recommendations are to try on every dress (that is in your budget!) whether you think it would look good or not. You may buy the first one but in the mean time it will be both fun and when you do finally buy something you will hopefully do so knowing you're making the right decision. Definitel;y try and snap some more pics of dresses you like so we can bed those "fresh" eyes too! (hee hee hee - I'm just being selfish because it's so fun to see everyone in their dresses!)

Dress shopping can make you crazy. Just do not search to far and long or it will make you crazy. I tried that very dress on and it IS amazing. I found another that fit me better, but it would be SO beautiful for a bride in Mexico especially! If you are thinking about it still today, then that is the one.
