Marriage Certificates

Question for those who just got married. . . do you come home with any proof of the wedding ceremony? I read on the RIU websitethat it can take 3-4 months to get your marriage certificate. I was hoping to get on my new husband's medical benefits as soon as we got back from Jamaica. . .but I need paper proof of the marriage. . . .

Great question! I was wondering about that too. Don't you need a copy of wedding certificate for name changes with vital stats?

I haven't gotten my official marriage certificate yet, but the copy they give you at the wedding was all I needed to add my husband to my health insurance Hope that helps!

We brought home a certificate but I don't think it's the official one - that is supposed to come in a few weeks.

I got mine 2 months after. I mean I had the paper one they gave me at the wedding but the official stamped one I just got a few weeks ago and I got married in December. HTH.

Can you use the one you get after the wedding to do your name change? Or do you have to wait until you get the official one? Please tell me I don't have to wait!

I had to wait for the official one. It has to have the raised seal thing on it. Sorry. I know it sucks.

That REALLY STINKS!! Hopefully they will get it out quickly. I read somewhere it could take 4-5 months. I am glad to hear you got yours quicker.
