Starchild, I feel like I HAVE to wash my face. Ever since I got the hair threaded, my face has been super oily and greesy. I just came back from the store. I purchased the cortizone cream. I pray this will work, because i'm getting really depressed. I have a hair appointment tonight, so we will see if there is any improvement by the time i get home.

Also, i forgot to mention that I read online that cortizone can lead to "thinning of the skin"...is this true??

Hmm..maybe it's because the hair is gone so things have room to ooze out of your pores now? LOL You could always try oil blotting papers. I'm no dermatologist so what do I know, do what you think you should. Just from my experience astringents/soaps irritate a rash or break-out, when I think that stripped skin like that should be soothed. But I have very sensitive skin. I also agree with Kash's suggestion for some Advil/Tylenol. Good luck!!

Yes cortisone can thin the skin, but that's over time. I think for this one drastic time its fine.

And maybe just go to a make-up counter this evening and get a good foundation and powder to cover them up in case you need them tomorrow. Then don't open them unless you need to use them - that way you can return them.

 

Seriously - take some advil or naproxen - it sounds like your skin is irritated and inflamed... sort of like what happens with waxing. I would skip tylenol/aspirin since they're not good at bringing swelling down but all those others should at least help.

Definetly try the cortizone and try relaxing. Oh that reminds me I read somewhere that massage helps the body heal faster, you should have a massage so you can be relaxed and be yourself tomorrow. Confidence will shine through and make you look beautiful no matter what. Good luck, it'll all work out.

Next time, if you do threading or waxing again. Use a product right after called "Tend Skin" (Sold at beauty stores or spas), it is meant specifically for use after hair removal and helps tremendously to stop breakouts.

Sorry, I didn' t read this till now. When I start to break out after waxing or using a hair removal cream, I use neosporin all over my face. It works wonders. I just leave it on and it clears up. Your face will seem oily, I recommend using some oil blotting tissues to help absorb the oil. Even the bristles from powder are going to irritate you more.

 

I agree to use a tinted moisturizer as well instead of all of the chemicals in the foundation.

 

Hopefully your skin had a chance to calm down overnight.

Jean Marcus- Threading is normally done in Indian Establishments (where I use to go) and the ladies take thread (the kind you sew with) and pull the hairs of your eyebrows out with it. Thats about it.
