Hi Girls - So we're about 6 months out now and I'm wondering when I should start working with Perla on details. We're doing the Chill out Chic package, but have some modifications. Did you find that most of these decisions were made after you arrived a few days before the wedding or were they way in advance? I'm not even sure what all of our options are - I may need to see it/taste it before I can decide. If you can, let me know what kind of timeline you guys have followed or are following. I'm having a tough time grasping what all needs to be done right now and in the next 6 months. There are tons of timelines out there for a traditional wedding, but I haven't found a suitable one for destination weddings. Wish the Paradisus offered this! Or maybe they do?

Also, when did you send out your formal invitations? Did you do reply cards with the formal invites? I'm not sure this is necessary since our TA/website will list out those who are booked. And we've requested itineraries from those who do not book through our TA.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

And congratulations to all the newlyweds! Excited to hear all about it!

Thanks!

Brooke

Hi Brooke! And hi Ladies!!! I'm sorry I've not been around much. Life has been sooooo busy lately.

On the planning thing, we really started working things out with Perla about 3 months prior - I knew what we wanted before then, but didn't start pushing that to her until 3 months. Plus we went down about 3 months prior.

I put together a HUGE to do list with time frames and lived by it. Let me find the post - here it is! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t20049

On the invites, I assume you sent out STDs? In that case, I'd say the invites can go out 2-3 months prior, with an RSVP date 4-6 weeks before your wedding. You'll know about most well in advance, but it's surprising that you'll have a few show up randomly from people you didn't think would make it.

Miss you girls!!

Becks,

Was 4 to 6 weeks enough time to firm up all the head count items associated with planning? Thats my biggest stress right now...we haven't a clue how many people are even thinking about coming. We were thinking about sending out invites super early just to get RSVPs back earlier....

I would agree with Becks - I think that 3 months prior is good to start pressuring Perla. I had the same concerns about all the details - would I have enough time to get all the small stuff done 4-6 weeks out.

We sent out STDs in January. I found that by late Summer, we pretty much had a sense of who was coming and who wasn't. We didn't even send out formal invitations - as people put down their deposits they were added to the list.

Of course we had a few book late - but I was able to design everything 3-6 months out and then start making final decisions later on. Things like name cards, welcome bags etc. I started on and did them as people booked...

Hey girls, I would agree with Becks and Missy on their timelines. I think that alot of us had people who booked really late. I had 3 book 6 days before we were leaving! But, you'll have a pretty good idea of who's coming and who's not a few months out.

Yamille~ just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you on your day! And, I'm kicking myself for not being in front of the computer when you messaged. I want details! lol bunny_4.gif
