Dallas Police Officer killed this morning while escorting Hillary Clinton

I just saw this on the news and they showed the motorcycle. That is really sad.

Just aweful. Such a terrible thing to hear. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the officer.

That's awful. And sadly it's not all that uncommon for the bike officers to get killed in motorcades. My MOH's uncle was in a terrible crash in Dallas a few years ago. It took him almost a year to walk again. Now he's back on the force!

Here's a few more details. Our friend said he was on the force for 20 years, but only a motorcycle officer for a month. Those motorcades travel so fast - it's so dangerous.

Thank you for posting this! My thoughts and prayers are with the officers bioligical family and family of officers. We are a tight group and this must be affecting them all. Although I am up in Chicago, a loss of a member in blue from anywhere is a sad day!!!!!!!

yes, this was horrible -- I got clinton's statement this morning - thought you guys might like to read it:

 

Senator Clinton gave the following statement earlier this morning at approximately 10:30 a.m. CST.

 

 

 

“I just learned of the death of a Dallas police officer in a devastating accident that occurred as these motorcycle officers were leading our cars to this site. We are just heartsick over this loss of life and I have asked that my condolences be conveyed to the family. I will call them as soon as it is appropriate to do so. I have placed a call to the Chief of Police expressing my sympathy. This reminds us, once again, what our men and women in law enforcement do every single day and it is important that we respect and appreciate their service. I certainly am grateful for all they do for me and more importantly what they do for citizens in cities like Dallas and others across our country.

 

 

 

“I just want to express my deepest condolences to the family and to the Dallas police department on this tragic, tragic loss.”

From what I heard, she ended up canceling the rally she was heading to -- awful hard to be positive after something like this.
