My neighbors have offered to help, while my brothers are in Jamaica with us. I don't like the idea of my dogs only having company at feeding times though. I will probably pay some extra $$$ to have someone stay at the house with them at night. I refuse to kennel them. My smallest dog is very sensitive, and would not do well at a kennel. They are also on a special diet, that I don't think would be easy to maintain at a kennel. While we are on our honeymoon, my brothers are going to stay with them.

We will have someone check on our cat a few times (as we will be gone for a week) and our dog will stay with a friend or family member. Since we are going "just the 2 of us" we don't have to worry about our sitters being with us. Now.... My daughter on the other hand.... I am more worried about her being TOTALLY spoiled by her Grandparents while staying with them for a whole week! Aack!

We are hiring a cat sitter, like you all our friends and family will be with us so I couldnt ask the usual suspects. smile41.gif I thought about this way in advance and hired the cat sitter for a "trial run" when we went on our scouting trip. I wanted to make sure I felt comfortable and my "furry girls" were well taken care of. She did a wonderful job and I will be using her again for our mini vacation next month.

I would suggest asking friends/family or your vet for recommendations of pet sitters in the area so you can meet with them and do a trial run to see how they get along with your pets etc.

Wish you luck Im sure you will find someone great.

We are trying decide the same thing. We have two dogs. We have a couple of close friends and one of Derek's cousins, that we were thinking of asking. They were all invited but can't attend the wedding. We are going to ask his cousin to stay at our house for the week. This way it's one person the whole time, maybe that would be less upsetting to the dogs.

We were going to board with our vet. I called and double checked our appointment to drop off several times, but when we went the night before we were suppose to leave, no one was there and no one would answer the phone. They had a power outage and everyone just left w/o notifing me! We waited until 7:00 for the Emergency Vet to open and they were able to tell us another place to go. We got there 5 minutes before they closed. Talk about a stressful night!! Our vet called the next morning (after getting my irrate messages) while we were at the airport apologizing, but it was too late. Argh!! I would suggest a backup plan just in case something like that happens at the last minute.
