Need some expert advice.. to invite or not?

Recommended Posts

This is tough - I'm having the same situation with regard to my step-sister. Dad wants her there, I have no relationship with her whatsoever, save a meal each year during the Xmas holidays. (Dad has only been married to step-mom for 5 years, and I live on the other side of the country.)

In the end, I'll proably send her the invite just to keep the peace, but I don't want her there, and I'm going to resent being pushed to invite someone I didn't want to invite. To me, that is the killer - everytime I see her there, I'm going to get a little ticked off. The things we do to keep the ones we love happy...

This is such a personal choice because only you know the depth of your friendship. I personally would invite her because she WAS a grood friend of yours and still good friends with everyone else right? I would hate to make her feel bad.

Plus if she's going to the other DW in June, she probably won't come to yours. I would extend the offer so it would be awkward when you see her at the other weddings.

I wonder if you can get a feel from the other girls if she would come to your wedding or not. If she tells them she doesn't think so than just sent her an announcement only, if you sent her an invite she may feel obligated to attend.

If she saids she thinks she would attend, I agree with trying to keep the peace with your friends and invite her.

out of courtesy you should invite her. i mean if you were friends and in a tight group before it would be awkward to not be the one invited. could cause a ripple within the group. plus if its a DW who says they will even show up right? maybe it will rekindle the friendship again if she does come... you never know..

plus if they dont go they might just get you something sweet off the registry wink.gif haha

we're going through the same thing kinda. we're sending the invite anyway so that we cant be accused of leaving them out, but we know theyll most likely decline anyway, so we're not worried about it.
