What's your accent color to brown?? Maybe she could wear that color - you don't want her to clash either!! :)

Then she said they also make the dress in cream!! Ugh, she just doesn't GET it. KWIM?
Can I just give her props at least for finding stuff so soon. My FMIL and FSMIL still haven't decided on dresses.
My mom picked her's months ago (champagne, woot!) and I told my FMILs her color and said pick anything else. Of course, the first one my FMIL sends is a dark yellow of the same style! Ummm... no, I don't want matching moms please. So, now she's on a different style same color. Arg! :)

So, I have to confess that I am beyond furious with my MOH. I really love her and she's a great girl, BUT she does things that just don't make any sense...for example she came into work (we work together) and told me that her parents have lost some of their hours at work and so she may not be able to come to the wedding since she will be providing a lot of financial support for them as she is still living at home. But every time I turn around, she's buying really expensive gifts for people that she doesn't really even like. She gives all of her aunts and uncles hundreds of dollars each month and doesn't even speak to most of them!!

THEN I come in on Monday and she's booking flights for a vacation in August!! She's my MOH and doesn't have enough money to come to my wedding but can treat her family of FOUR to a two week vacation!?!? What makes it worse is that she acts like she's really trying to save up to go, but I'm just like "Hello! Instead of buying all 20 of your cousins Ipods and gadgets, why not put some money down, buy a flight and pay off your hotel balance?"

I feel so frustrated!! Obviously I cannot tell her what to do with her own money, but then if you don't want to come or you aren't really interested, then why accept the position? Why act like you're trying to save money and come up with crazy excuses? I don't even know what to say because I feel like she won't even get it! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I feel like I'm going crazy!

Dana- I hear ya! One of my best friends keeps telling me she would love to go if she could afford it and will try to save for it and then turns around and buys granite countertops on a whim and asks me what I think of them and if she should get them. (She doesn't need them, its purely want and not need).

My MOH just got a 7% paycut at work because it was the companies way of not laying off in this economy and her DH got the same cut because he works at the same place. She hasn't said anything about not being able to go yet but she talks about how they don't have enough money to pay bills now but they just went out and bought a hot tub!

I don't understand it either!

What is it with people? I don't think you have to be a B2B to understand how rude and annoying that kind of behavior is...I would NEVER make huge purchases instead of going to a friend's wedding- and if I didn't want to go, I def wouldn't act like I'm trying so very hard to go and then rub granite countertops or family vacations in their face! I've decided that people are nuts!

Dana, that stinks! Some people are so rude without even knowing it. And if you knew for whatever reason you didn't want to go and were going to spend your money on granite counters, wouldn't you go out of your way to NOT tell your friend about your purchases? People are nuts.

oooh i just got so mad on your behalf reading the last couple posts. it's one thing if someone really can't afford your wedding trip, but another thing entirely to fake it with some sob story. my matron of honor (niece) said she and her husband couldn't afford it (because they are trying to fix up their house ... mind you, all cosmetic sh*t that is unnecessary, before they start trying to get pregnant). luckily my mom & sister are coughing up the money and PAYING for them to go. so i'm grateful, and all happy she'll be there, but she and her husband are getting a free trip and contributing nothing toward it but personal spending money. WTF? if anyone's trip should have gotten paid shouldn't it have been mine? LOL

FI's brother has always said he's not coming, can't afford it because of school, etc. but he managed to buy a $1000 flat screen tv in time for the superbowl. what.ev.er.

and final example, FI's half-sister "couldn't afford to come" (not even a few days) but managed to plan her family's 10-day trip to disney THE SAME WEEK as our wedding. then she couldn't understand why FI's/her father got so mad when she posted all about it on facebook, LOL.

it's all in where people's priorities are. unfortunately, we can't make people spend THEIR money the way WE want them to. it can sting a bit tho when we learn we are nowhere near a top priority.
