Andrea - are you considering a TTD session? Im sorry you are bummed about your pics but at least you have some good ones from your friends and family!

Erin - our puppy did that too!! he grew out of it for the most part but we still have to kennel him when we leave otherwise he will DESTROY our house...we have tried to let him be free when we are gone and have paid the consequences. Hot sauce does work though and catching them in the act and correcting them!

Andi- Did I ever tell you my groomsmen didn't book until the day before DH and I left? People are freakin' idiots.

OH NO! that totally sucks...well maybe you can plan another trip soon to get some good pics?

What about that stuff called Bitter Apple, I remember my mom using that stuff to stop chewing. it doesn't smell bad but to dogs it tastes just horrible!

If Izzy is like my one dog Camo was, neither hot sauce nor bitter apple spray worked. I didnt use much hot sauce because i didnt want to hurt him but he ended up liking the taste of the hot sauce anyway. He was a serious bugger. the bitter apple spray worked for a little while but than it didnt bother him from chewing up stuff that he really wanted. I just had to Camo-proof the house. And when i wasnt home I crated him. Of course i never left him for more than 4-5 hrs in there (i live near work so i can let him out). I know you Mike doesnt like crating but really that's the only way i could get him not to chew everything. And than when i was home I made sure he was occupied. I took him on long walks after i was done work to wear him out a little (he litterally could run around for 10 hours straight and not be tired). I also took him to doggy day care twice a week for 4 months. That actually worked good because the day after doggy day care he was so beat from playing the day before he was calm.

I'm sure she'll grow out of it and she probably makes up for her bad habits with lots of puppy love. She's probably still teething. he did after he was teething too but about 3 months after he got fixed he calmed down a lot. and Stopped chewing on things. Now its an occassional sock (but we try not to leave anything out).

if you know anyone who is good with photoshop maybe they can edit your photos to make them great? sometimes little things like better cropping, punching up the color saturation a little, fading some edges, changing to b&w, etc. can really help a photo out. i would offer to give 'em a try but i'm already doing this for bachatabride in the midst of my own wedding planning.

Killick doesn't chew on furniture, but he loves our deck!! I tried using hot sauce, but he loved it!!! I found an outdoor spray for flowers/gardens/trees/etc & that seems to be working so far. Have you looked online for some suggestions?? Here are a few website I found when I did a quick search:
Stop Dog Chewing - Put A Stop To Your Dog's Chewing Problems Now.
http://www.dogproblemsolutions.com/a.../chewing.shtml

I hope these offer some help. In the meantime, I hope you don't loose too much in the training stage!! Good Luck!!

ErinB, did you try Grannick's bitter apple spray? It apparently works the best, but otherwise you can do Tabasco sauce. Try to get your dog some yummy stuff to chew on, and reward him when he chews on good things. A helpful thing to do when you leave the house is to get a bunch of Kongs (or other food puzzles) and fill them with treats. Our technique has always been to distract the dog with a chew stick or a kong, and sneak out the door. The main thing is that puppies NEED to chew, so using a deterrent isn't enough. Make sure there's always something more appealing than your furniture around :)

Confession: I'm finishing my final semester of animation school, and I've been pretending to everyone that I'm still working really hard and that technical problems have been what's slowing me down (which is partially true) but the main reason my grades are slipping is that I spend almost all my time looking at wedding stuff and then have to do one week of homework in one day! In fact, today is that day, and even though my homework is due tomorrow I'm posting here!

Thanks for the advice ladies. I have tried all of those sprays and it doesn't phase her. We do crate her when we're gone and only giver her run of a very few rooms when she is out and supervised. She is just so damn fast and mischievous! LOL

We don't have nice furniture, but I really don't want her to do this when we get new stuff. She should be out of her chewing phase by then. She'll be getting fixed within a week or two so maybe that will help. The weather has been so bad we really haven't gotten as much outside time as she needs so I'm sure that is adding to the problem.

I do this too, and I have been married for almost a year!

This is like going to church! And please forgive the prolonged rant...

Heavenly girls (and guys) of the BDW forum, I confess that although I love FI's family dearly (well, all but his ***-**-*-***** of a brother) I'm getting the feeling that I will be terminally disappointed by them.

His mother, bless her heart, offered to help with anything I may possibly need for the wedding. (Mind you she isn't attending our wedding despite being provided a variety of hotel options and having about a million frequent flyer miles). We asked if we could have our AHR at their place. They agree.

A week later, they say their house can't accomodate the people. Their yard and property are the same size if not larger than the yard at the facility we will now have to rent for $1000.

FI's mom and pregnant sister are over at the house yesterday, and FI's mother tells FI that she is so inundated by medical bills that she doesn't know what to do or how they're ever going to pay them off, implying that she won't be able to help out with the two kegs of beer that she promised for the AHR. First off, she has double medical coverage through her own and her husband's employers. Not even two sentences go by and she says that her husband and FI's brother just left to drive down to Las Vegas to buy car parts for one of his remodel projects. As the conversation then progresses, his sister brings up that someone gave her two large bins full of baby clothes and without skipping a beat, his mother offers to run out and buy her another dresser.

In their short visit, she also told me about getting stuck in Redding and having to stay an extra night due to a lack of snow chains. If you're so tight on funds, why in the hell were you taking day trips to Redding in the first place?

In the event that either FI or I get laid off because we've both just received notice from the State of CA that we're part of the "most expendible" least seniority-having employees, we're seriously planning on moving to Idaho to get the hell out of this f*ed up socialist state. The only way that you can get any support from them is if you're an irresponsible f*ck-up who can't keep a job and can't stop sucking off the welfare system. But if you've proven that you can stand on your own two feet, you won't get an ounce of it. For the first time in his life, your son is asking for help and your going to lie to get out of it? Good looking out for the person that will inevitably make decisions for you when you're incapable of wiping your own ass.

The only one that has any kind of reason not to be able to help is his father, and thats because he's caring for his dying brother for about the last year and will have to front the expense of his funeral expenses himself.

I confess.... that I feel like I don't have any truly good friends anymore. Those few I thought were my best friends really let me down this past year when it came to our wedding, three in particular. Two of them haven't even picked up the phone to see how the wedding was or say congrats, not even a darn card! All I got was a couple posts on facebook about my pictures and how they want to hear all about it. Well if you want to hear about it then pick up the freakin phone and call me! I was in one of their weddings just over a year ago...went to the shower, planned the bach party, was in the wedding, and she can't even pick up the phone and say congratulations! Are you kidding me! I had a shower thrown by my now MIL in which not one of my friends attended b/c it was in another state. I never had a bach. party b/c no one ever offered to throw one for me. Then the same friends that "wouldn't miss my wedding for anything" found that they had better things to do. One even flew to DC for the inaugral ball, and told me she really wanted to go to the ball b/c she may never get the chance to again....did she think she was going to get another chance to go to my wedding??! I really just want to say forget them and our friendship, but I am not sure if I am overreacting.

I know a lot of girls on here expressed their disappointment with friends and family. My question is when it came to those that really let you down (not those that had legit excuses), what ended up happening with your friendship with those people. Did you just get over it, or did your friendship change or even end?

Ok, I feel a little better now and I am done ranting.
