ditto here...even my some of my "family" has shown their true colors.  my mom's friend hosted a shower for me a couple of weeks ago and my aunt (moms sister) was an hour and 45 mins late AND didnt even apologize to me, my mom, or the hostess.  then this past sunday my MOH hosted a shower and 10 people cancelled on her the day before.  she had already bought food, arranged everything it was horrible!! i felt so bad for her. she was mostly upset b/c she felt like she had failed me somehow.  i told her those people can shove it and ive cut ties with them.  now theyre all asking me about the bachelorette party next weekend (of course they all want to come since there is alcohol involved) i simply told them that the invitations had already gone out and if they were invited, they would have already recieved one.  sorry about the rant, now for the confession:

i confess that yesterday i had a meltdown, first one in over a year of planning, and i was seriously considering scrapping the whole thing.  family is bitching b/c of the recent incident near cancun, wedding coordinator SUCKS a big one; im really over the whole thing.  ive been so excited about everything this whole time and now 3 weeks before my wedding and i just want to get it over with.

Don't feel bad...i feel the same way. I'm about 2 months out, I was really excited in the beginning but I just wish the wedding was over with at this point. My FI's family have been annoying the hell out of me with all this wedding business. They think I'm a bad bride because I don't want to spend every minute I have talking about or planning this wedding. I just want to show up and get married, I'm not too concerned with the little details. That is one of the reasons we choose to have a DW so we wouldn't have to deal with all the BS but it's still being pushed in our faces. Oh well...thank god for wine!

Not at all...the honeymoon is the part I am most looking forward to as well :)

Why do weddings have to bring out the worst in people.

Because everyone has their own ideas and opinions of what you should be doing :)

No...that dress doesn't look right.......

No....I don't really like that color....

No...you can't wear those shoes

And on and on and on.....

Sometimes people are jealous...sometimes they thing they're helping...but what it comes down to is your wedding...your decisions :)

So...ignore the icky people and focus on the fun that you will have and the amazing day ahead....

Karen....who is in your profile pic with you? Is that FI? He looks almost like David Tutera. I don't know why weddings bring out the worst in people. Like I said in another thread, throughout this whole process some friends have turned into acquaintances, some acquaintances have turned into friends and well some family have shown their true colors. You're getting married the weekend after me by the way. We are both on the countdown......74 more days left for me.

I am feeling the same way & I just started planning!  I am so over everyone's opinions & just want to run away & get married by ourselves.  My FI's BIL is now saying that he isn't going to come because we are having it at an adults only resort & they have a baby that will be around 14 months at the time.  He is supposed to be a groomsman, but doesn't want to leave his kid with anyone (although he has a Mom & 2 sisters that could watch the baby!!)  I am not a big fan of kids & don't want to have to spend the entire week with little urchins running around!!!

It is David Tutera. The dress I bought was designed by him and he was at the store for a trunk show the day I went there. It was so much fun to meet him and he was really helpful with picking out my dress.

You're definitely right about people showing there true colors. Better to find out now, I guess, then when you really need them.

WOO-HOO for being a November bride too :) I can't believe it is getting so close. I still have so much to do but no motivation.

One of my best bms ditched my wedding shower. She told me she was coming for weeks and weeks, even though she had a wedding the night before. And on the big day she didn't show. She claimed that she was too hung over, and traffic wasn't helping. But a sister of mine drove in from the same city and said traffic was fine. I feel like she ditched so she could hang out with her new boyfriend instead of making it to my shower. The worst thing is, is she didn't tell me she wasn't coming, she told another sister of mine to tell me, and then I HAD TO MESSAGE HER, and talk to her about it. She avoided the topic and didn't even apologize. I'm kinda hurt considering I thought she was a good friend.
