On one side, the pool was a few walk away. On another side, it faced the beach. We got the Mezzanine section, which faced the beach but because it was raining and the screens were pulled down, it didn't matter.

As for the i-Pod, we brought our own speaker. I was worried the volume wouldn't carry well but it was more than adequate. As well, because of the rain, there wasn't a lot of people at the restaurant so we pretty much had it to ourselves.

I'm interested in doing this, too...for many of the same reasons you did: age range of our guests. Did you just book through Grayline's website for all your guests, or were you able to arrange for a private excursion?

ARgh! I'm having trouble seeing page 4 for some reason. I've posted a response, but for some reason can't see it.

Anyhoo, Chilis is sandwiched somewhat by the pool on one side and the beach on the other. There's no walls so depending on where you sit in the restaurant, you might have a pool view or the beach view.

As for the iPod, you have to bring your own. They don't have speakers to rent to you.

Time to move on to the next challenge...planning a family. :-)/QUOTE]

Now THAT will be a photographers dream, sign me up for the family portrait! love.giflove.giflove.gif

:-)

Ya know, Elizabeth, Forrest wants to come back to RIU Palace Riviera Maya on our anniversary to enjoy it properly since we were so busy with the wedding and receiving guests. We just might bring the little tot for family pictures (wink!) and have the Trash-the-Diaper session, lol.

BTW, he accepted a job offer in Seattle, so we'll be relocating from Chicago in early April. You know what that means?...ROAD TRIP!

Yes, I did it all through the grayline website. An observation, I booked half the guests on Grayline Cancun and was charged a bit more than $55 USD per person (due to peso conversion) and then I booked the other half through Grayline (International?) and was charged $55 US. We all got one the tour with no problem, so I'm not sure why the different transaction. Anyhoo, try to book it through the Grayline International if you can so you don't get dinged on the exchange.
