Dreams Punta Cana Brides

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm NEW to this site :)

My Wedding will be at Dreams Punta Cana on 10-20-12 at 6PM

We are having 200 GUESTS! It's my BIG FAT DOMINICAN WEDDING!

I've been working with Deyanira as my wedding coordinator and she's been very helpful... I'm actually going to visit Dreams in 2 weeks so I can talk to her in person and see the resort.

My name is Grace... my Fiance and I live in Miami (his name is Ralphy) and I look forward to sharing tips and suggestions with former Dreams Brides as well as Brides-To-Be like me :)

I'm freaking out about the following:

1) Hair and Makeup

2) The Ceremony will be in the Gazebo and I'm not sure if they can accommodate my 200 guests! I don't want people standing...everyone must have a CHAIR!

3) CHAIRS - I'm in love with the Tiffany Garden Style chairs but they're $15 a pop! OOouch! I worked them into my budget but am really thinking about removing them because they're so much money... I can use that for something else like a fine art PHOTOGRAPHY!

4) PHOTOGRAPHER - Are you using the onsite photography?? At first I said yes but now I don't know! I want quality photos and video. Can anyone recommend any photographers in the Punta Cana area??

Thanks!

Grace-Welcome to the forum!!!

We are getting married in just a few months, and we are very excited!

We are going with Carribean Emotions Photography in Punta Cana.  They are all over the forum, and you can find them on facebook. I was also undecided about getting a photographer from outside the resort or use the the photographer available onsite.  I recently booked with Carribean Emotions Photography, and we are very happy with our decision.

Happy planning;)

Hi everyone! My name is Liz and I have booked Dreams Punta Cana November 17th, 2012. We are so excited!!! Still a little nervous about planning from the states and not being able to visit prior to our wedding. Thank you to all of you who have posted their thoughts and suggestions!!

Can anyone recommend a photographer or if they liked the one provided by the resort?

We are doing a beach ceremony. Does anyone have pictures of the decor they provide in the Ultimate package?

Thank you and happy planning to you all!!!

Hi grace! Welcome :)

And oh my goodness!! 200? That's great - sounds like it will be some amazing memories ahead.

I saw those Tiffany chairs too and they are so beautiful - but I think it might be one of those things that only YOU notice...when you ask your guests what they remember most about your wedding ceremony, it's going to be about how beautiful you looked, how happy your future husband was, the breathtaking scenery...not the chairs :) so maybe spend your money on something special other than the chairs - like a menu upgrade or extra champagne  or flowers ...or massages for you guys everyday!

Ive only read good things about hair and makeup - I've heard it might be helpful to bring your own foundation and brushes though - just one brides advice to me that I'm taking - and of course bring a picture of how you want your hair. I keep reminding myself that these stylists do this eeeeevery single day so they must know what they are doing.

I have a 6pm wedding in the gazebo too :)

We are using HDC photography - I couldn't beat the prices and they have impeccable communication :) I've only heard great things about Caribbean emotions too!

Again, welcome to the forum!

I'm using Caribbean Emotions for photography and this is probably one of the things I am most excited about. I've heard nothing but great feedback and have seen a ton of their pictures. I was origionally going to go with the Ultimate package that includes the resort photog but have since changed my mind. I am going to price everything out individually and pass on their photog. I haven't heard the greatest of things from them anyways.

I just booked HDC yesterday for our Dec 2012 wedding based on all the good reviews from this site and FB! Im very happy with their service and quick responses to my questions. And they give their prices right on the website (under the experience page). I think thats very important. I like the transparency of it all and not having to wait for a price list. When comparing HDC prices and services to the resorts services - HDC was the winner hands down. I booked them for photos, video and trash the dress!

Good luck!

I have also booked HDC for the big day. They were so easy to deal with and compared to what you got from the resort photog seemed to good to pass up. I was able to customize the Platinum Plus package which was great. My wedding coord at Dreams did tell me there is a $79 fee to bring them into the resort in case anyone was wondering. Coming up soon...90 more days till we r on a plane to Dreams PC!!  I will try and post some pics when i get back so everyone can see HDC's work.

Good I'm glad you got started with the photography hunt!

Question for all past brides and maybe even brides-to-be -

How long is your wedding reception? There's nothing I can do to change it now, but my ceremony is at 6, cocktails at 7, reception 8-11 (and nothing can go past 11). I feel like that isn't enough time and I'm worried that the whole dancing part will be 45 minutes!! We're not doing too many traditional things - just the first bride/groom dance and father/daughter mother/son dance and a little "family" dance (we have two children who will be three and almost 1 by June). We have DJ Mannia booked also, which I'm excited about. Hopefully dinner won't last longer than an hour? We are doing buffett style so I feel like that will at least go a little faster...not that I want to rush people...but you know what I mean. :)

So can someone share their experience w/ a shorter reception? Did you go out after?

I also decided on getting Natural Touch flowers from Plumeria Flower Botique. Roberta has been amazing to work with and I can't sing her praises enough. As soon as I get my boquets I will share a little review! (I'm getting "my" flowers through the resort because of my wedding package including them...but everything else I'm getting through Plumeria and Roberta is working to coordinate everything, including a floral hair piece for me and a cake topper.)

Speaking of cake...I've heard that it isn't necessary to get a huge cake...for example if we have 60 people, we could get a cake for 40. Anyone else hear that? I know not everyone will eat it. We are much more of a drinking and dancing group...rolleyes.gif
