Dreams Punta Cana Brides

Hey ladies well it looks like yessica sp? Is officially taking over for Sharon I got an email today telling me that she would be my new wc.

 

My name is Carey by the way hi everyone. I have been a lurker of this forum for a very long time but now it's down to business and time to start participating.

 

I am hoping to be a beach bride but that may change when I get there haven't seen enough pictures of ladies getting married on the beach and am worried about people sunbathing while I am getting married. We are having our reception on the Bordeaux Terrace with approx 35 people if those who verbally said they are going actually show up. We will for sure have myself fi our daughter and my dad.

 

Anyways just wanted to officially introduce myself.

I have been told the wedding ceremony at Dreams Punta Cana is in spanish, with an english translator. Is that correct? How did that work? Doesn't seem like it would be very appealing to a bunch of Americans who don't speak a word of spanish. What was your experience like?

JandK, the civil ceremony is done in Spanish. However if you just go with a symbolic ceremony the WC will perform it in English.

Hello Ladies,

 

The ride is about an hour. I rented a car when I was there and the ride is completely smooth and beautiful! It's mostly country, so you'll see lots of banana plants, farms, and mountains.

 

As for guests booking last minute, I will be putting my deadline on my invites for folks 3 months prior to my wedding date. If they don't, i mentioned that they may not be guranteed a room as they book up. So hopefully they will book in the timeframe.

We would have liked to have it for one more hour though, so if you have the extra $250 in your budget to add it on (if you do La Barcaza) then definitely do it. Hi Nat, sounds like you truly enjoyed your wedding day at the Dreams Punta Cana. We have our date confirmed at both the Dreams Punta Cana (DPC) and Dreams Palm Beach (DPB), we keep wavering between the two. When you were selecting your location did you consider both Dreams properties or was it DPC all the way? Also, just wondered how many people joined you at the resort and in addition to the decorations, what other extras you included for your ceremony?
Also, any words to the wise for the rest of us planning DPC weddings?

I would recommend DPC for everyone!! The only thing that was kind of a let-down was the beach... let me explain! The sand was not as white as you would imagine, but it was very beautiful (hence why I was married on the beach). I would definitely get married on the beach again in a heartbeat, it was a fantastic decision! People (for the most part) respect a wedding and keep their distance. There was one or two people who walked through, but I was too caught up in the moment to notice. It was only afterward that I noticed a figure blurred out in the background. The water was the bigger issue, since you can only swim in a very small part of the ocean. I also heard from another group who was down there that their daughter was married at DPB and it was even more beautiful, but smaller. The only thing about Bavaro beach (from what I've heard) is that people walk in the water behind the ceremony A LOT more. And from my own experience, the vendors can be rather annoying (at DPC you don't have any, except for a couple on the resort).

As for HDC (Arnaud) I would HIGHLY recommend him! a photographer from his company did our wedding (Francesco) and he was professional and knew exactly what would (and wouldn't) make a shot look great. We got our prints back before we went home (a definite bonus) and everyone is raving about our pictures!

Thank you so much for the details on DPC and DPB. I had heard from a few people about the beach at DPC and the fact that the water was a bit rougher, so you couldn't go out too far into the ocean. It's nice to hear that the other guests respected your wedding and there weren't too many onlookers.
I really appreciate your feedback on your wedding experience at the resort. How many guests joined you at the resort? In general, how was the resort?Did your guests enjoy their stay as well? Oh, by the way who was your WC?

I'm so glad that you are happy with your photos. I keep telling my fiance that they are really one of those things that we will really look back on and be glad we didn't scrimp on. How did you find out about HDC for your photography? Did you have them do some candid photos pre-wedding, in addition to the standard ceremony and family shots afterwards? Where their rates comparable to the resorts photographer?

Hi Jenn,

 

When I went to Punta Cana in May, I looked at both of the resorts and met with the WC at both locations. The WC i found at DPB was actually pretty rude. She may have been really busy, but i found that to be a negative since I would have to work with her from NY. Also, the main reason I did not choose DPB is because they had no terraces for our reception and that was a main criteria.

 

I love DPC as the beach is pretty private from the other resorts since it is completely out of the way. So you don't have guests from other resorts just walking onto the property to visit.

 

DPB was a beautiful property and more modern, so if you go that route, it won't be a bad choice. It ust didn't have the criteria i was looking for for my wedding.

how long does it take to get a response from the wedding co-ordinater once she received the request form and she needs to contact the Judge to see if he is available at that time and date

hey ladies, just going through some of my dreams paperwork and the civil ceremony can be translated at no extra cost. I found that in a FAQ that Deyanira just sent me, i've never seen it before and it looks new so if i figure out how, ill attach it...
