What A Relief. I Have Been Going Back And Forth With The Invitation Thing. I Have Decided To Go Ahead And Send, But Now I Have Another Problem. My Sister Says I Should Do A Registry And Others Have Also Suggested That I Put Monetary Gifts Appreciated Since My Fi And I Already Live Together And Have Plenty Of "stuff". We Feel Like It Is Rude. What Do You Ladies Think?

Ahhh... thanks everyone for your input! I was leaning towards the invites but sometimes it's just nice to hear it from others... especially as I was so into keeping it simple at the beginning and then did a 180.

Kelly, I completely agree w/ you, though, about the RSVP thing. I'm going to skip that part and do a contact us via email or phone type of thing... it seems from what I read on the forum most people aren't good at responding to RSVPs anyways.

I have to agree w/ you on this one! In my opinion, it's not okay to put monetary gifts appreciated, especially in the case of a destination wedding where people are going to have to spend a lot to make it there. You could do a registry, although I would shy away from putting info about your registry on invites and leave that one to word of mouth only. That's just my opinion, though - we're not doing a registry b/c I really want people to know that coming to my wedding is present enough for me. My case is perhaps different, though, being only about 25 people thus far so I don't really feel a registry is needed.

I've read that any mention of gifts on an invitation is against etiquette and it implies that you are expecting a gift. I think it's just best to let that information be passed on through word of mouth.

We did not do invites. We did a wedding update and sent that out to everyone who will be attending. We are trying to keep costs down and felt like they already booked there vacation to spend the day with us so why send out an ivite. Everyone really enjoyed the update.

I was tossing around the idea of skipping invites too for these same reasons...until I found out today that a friend, who received a STD back in September and we haven't heard from--no RSVP, nothing, was planning to attend our wedding and has made her own travel arrangements! I had assumed that she wasn't coming!! what.gif Especially since we made our 1st resort payment for our guests last Friday! (We aren't using a TA, organizing everything ourselves.)

I wasn't planning to mail invitations to people not coming to the wedding, but now I'm concerned that there could be other guests who received a STD, never responded, but plan to show up as well! I don't even know what to think about this new development! shitfan.gif
