Mom's Veil - Whatcha think

Recommended Posts

I thin the idea of hanging it over the chair is a good idea. You should also removed the star design and have it sewn into the inside underskirt of your dress. Or perhaps incorporated into your bouquet?

Are you doing TTD? Or even in your reguarl pics, perhaps you could put it on for a few pics and surprise your mom with copies. That would be nice and thoughtful.

As for the veil, can you incorporate it some other way? It really is unique and festive looking. Are you having a flower girl that can wear it?

Or even detaching the star design and using it somehow...

maybe to place a votive/hurricane on at the guest book table?

Or maybe hang the whole veil from the back of your dinner chair as decoration (like how some people have a "bride" sign?)

It is a little dated, but still cool and would be nice to stick in there somewhere!

I voted for hair pins, because if it's not you, don't wear the veil. It would be really nice to figure out a way to incorporate it somewhere. Depending how big it is, but maybe pinned to something. I'm sure your mom will appreciate you wearing the hair pins.

I had to decline a family dress that was worn by everyone in the 80s. It came with a lace umbrella and lace hat with an attached veil. I mean who wouldn't want to wear that right? I had to break my grandmas heart and say no. I'm sure she got over it though because she's coming to the wedding. :)

Personally, I am planning on wearing my own Mom's veil, even if it may be a little dated. (It's VERY poufy and on a crown-like thing, hard to explain...) But I like it. I love that it's so fluffy. cheesy.gif And it makes me really excited to be planning my dress around my "something old"

ANYHOO, if you really don't like it, don't feel like you have to wear it. BUT, if you only don't like the star-thing (which is what it sounds like), it looks like you could remove it without any damage to the rest of the veil. (Or find a seamstress friend who knows her stuff). I really like the image of having the star pinned to the wrap on your bouquet, like in place of a bow, on the side? Just a thought...

And I think no matter what, you HAVE to go with the pins in your hair. That sounds like a must. smile159.gif

OK... now, this has NOTHING to do with the veil, but I have this idea that I really wanted to do... however my family didn't cooperate!

So, what I wanted to do was take the hem of either my mom's, grandma's, or Shawn's grandma's dress (all three of these ladies have been married at least 30+ years if not 50! so I figure it must be good luck). I wanted to take the hem of their dress and cut it about three inches wide. I was then going to take that and wrap it around my bridal bouquet. Like this...

p.s. My family didn't behave because none of them have the outfit they wore for their weddings! Dang nabbit! All my good ideas go to waste!
