The next one is the instructions for the letter the American citizen needs to get from their employer to prove they make enough $ to support their partner at the poverty line (which by the way was like $13,000 for last year according to our attorney, which means you need to make double that to support two people).

The third document I have is a list of documents required by attorneys when they represent an adjustment of status case. This document has sensitive info on it, which I need to remove before I post it. But I will also email you girls copies once I do that.
Thanks so much! You are great. My FI pays American Taxes but hasn't received one of those letters in the mail like I did telling me to expect a check.

hey mel, no we havent started filing the paperwork or even filling it out yet - we are just too busy with last min stuff for the DW and we also can't afford the attorney's retainer fee or the fee to file the forms right now (a total of about $2K to start everything). so we are waiting to see how much money we get from the wedding and then going from there. i think we will definitely file by the end of october.

as soon as we get back from the DW though, i have a TTD scheduled the first weekend back, and then that following saturday i am going to go stand in line with the scum of the earth at the SS office downtown here, i am going to start doing all my name change stuff so that is all complete before we submit all our paperwork. our lawyer told us you get bonus points with the government for changing your last name, so we want that to be totally done before we file papers.
