I started with destinationwedding.com however my TA was very pushy and did not listen to me. I dropped them prior to knowing about this forum. I have a friend who is using a TA from this site and has been very happy with her. I am using a cousin as my TA.

Good Luck!

Hello to all!!!

I feel a little frustrated and desperately need info before I continue with this business, but wanted to see if anyone here has either known someone to use, or has usedWedding Destinations and Planning | Destination Weddings .comhuh.gif

I am in the process right now of using them, and have already shelled out a grand of a deposit, and at first had wonderful results! You put up a low deposit of $5o that goes toward your final cost. You are then assigned a destination wedding consultant/agent, and she handles getting together everything for you, from flight, travel, and of course resort/wedding info. They can also handle your guests, and give you your own wedding website. Great. Mine was very helpful and responsive in the beginning, and super prompt with any questions I/we had. She even helped me choose a destination! She was cool with me constantly changing my mind, and kept suggesting different places, along with quotes for it all! GREAT! Well, I decided on a location, and she put up a quote, we accepted and put a deposit down. After that, it has been a struggle/pain to get her to contact my resort to get specific information. The final payment is due september 12, but I haven't even talked to the resort wedding planner!!! Photography, flowers, etc. Simply, she responded a week later "most of those details will be handled when you arrive." huh.gif?? I'm starting to think she's a glorified travel agent, who doesn't really know/care about wedding details at all! I'm flipping out, how can I get erything together if I don't speak with them myself?!?!

Am I overreacting? I am not going to lose any more of my money if this isn't worth it. Pleeeeeease advise! Thanks!

I am currently using them and have had a wonderful experience thus far. Any problems/concerns I have had the management and president even have been very receptive. I would recommend that you contact them, I know that I received an email about who my manager would be.... Best of luck to you, I hope things turn around!

Sharon, also....with destination weddings you generally don't talk to the wedding planner about flowers, music, etc until 2 months before hand.....at least with big AI resorts & stuff. This is what I was told too and many girls on my thread, and I think that part is normal :)

Thank you guys so much, I searched for it on here, but didn't find any results, so that other thread was very helpful Josie! Also, thank you Shelby for that pm, it was very helpful!

All in all, magically she replied today, and she got me in the path I wanted to be in, so now I feel relieved!! A little bad for overreacting, but that's exactly why i posted the question here. I wasn't really sure what to expect from them, as I don't do this everyday obviously, nor was it made very clear! So she responded to an email I wrote shortly after posted here, and all is well! I also didn't personally know anyone to have gone through a dw, so it is a little strange. Having these little, important details made out to the very last minute can be a little stressful, so all of this just puts my mind at ease! Thanks again, for all the help! I was worried because I didn't want to go two more months stressing for nothing, when a quick email(s) would have put my curious mind to rest :) Also, when their website quotes them being "dw specialists" and "dw planners," it made it seem to me that they were something besides a travel agent!! So, now that I have heard from other people, I know what is the norm, and what to expect :) So thanks to all, and sorry for posting a thread that already existed!! I know for next time.

Glad to hear your feeling better. Im using them and my coordinator is great. I dont have alot going on but the minute I have a question I get a response that shes working on it and gives me a timeframe as to when she will get the info I need. I was also having a hard time with my coordinator at the resort, I got my DW coordinator to send out an email and I immediatlely got a response from the site coordinator. The ONLY thing I can say that I dont care for too much is that her prices always come up a bit higher than EVERYWHERE else...My sister booked for my wedding last night through a friend of hers instead of my DW coordinator and out of curiosity I also asked my coordinator for the same exact package and DW came back about 50 higher. That seems to be the only thing that KEEPs coming up.

Other than that..I dont have any complaints as far as customer service goes.

Good luck!

I'm also using them and my TA is great!! We have been keeping an eye on the prices, and she calls me everyday and lets me know if air is up/down, and when it is at it's best. They will even price match any major travel agent (expedia, AAA, etc.)
