wedding dress long train in the sand?

Recommended Posts

I just bought my dress this weekend!! So excited!! It ended up being very different than I thought I would buy. I was thinking I'd get something really simple, but I ended up with a dress that has some sparkle and also has a train. It's beautiful and I love it, but I wanted to ask if any of you married girls walked on the beach with your train out and if it was ok in the sand...? Or, are any of the other non-married girls planning to walk in the sand with a train? I don't mind getting sand on my dress, but I just want to make sure I can walk and am not dragging a huge pile of sand behind me. We might get married on the beach (will decide after our site visit in 2 weeks!) and the train looks great when it's down, but I'm wondering if I should just keep it bustled while on the sand...

Also, what kind of shoes did you girls wear for the sand? Can I get away with flip flops? Will they show in the pictures?

THANKS!

I also have a small train on my dress.(plus mine is lace so the sand will probably stick to it!) I'm pretty sure it will be fine, I don't think they are heavy enough to drag piles of sand. At least I hope not. I am wearing flip flops that have sparkly beads on them. You can't really wear a heel in the sand. There are some "bridal" Flip Flops that are satin if you want something nicer. I also bought really pretty barefoot jewelry to wear for the beach pics. They are made of Swarovski Pearls and Crystals.

Well, first off, CONGRATS on choosing your dress! We want to see pictures!!!

I know I've seen millions of pics of beach brides w/the train out. I plan to do it, and I don't think you will need to worry about dragging piles of sand, unless for some reason your train is really heavy.

Regarding footwear, I plan to go barefoot for our ceremony on the beach & slip shoes on for the reception. If you have your dressed hemmed properly, you shouldn't have to worry about your footwear (or lack thereof) showing in the pics, unless you want it to.

As Christa said, I plan on doing the ceremony barefoot, and then flipflops or a very small heel for afterwards. I do have a smallish train on my dress and would really like to wear it down as well, since the detail on it was half the reason I bought the dress! It's pretty light, and I know some sand will get on it, but hopefully it won't cause me any issues. I do have nightmares about it getting stuck on the runner thing I will be walking on and snagging, or pulling me down, but I assume that's just me being a worrysome bride!

Any married gals with advice or calming words?

I have a train on my dress as well.. Not too long, but alot longer then I wanted. I plan on having my train out during the ceremony and some of the pictures. I also plan on going barefoot during the ceremony and I have a pair of shoes that have like a 1 inch heal. My dress was made to length without shoes.

BTW, We MUST see pictures of your dress. lol

I haven't tried dresses on yet, but I am thinking that I will have a short train, I'm short anyway so anything I get is going to drag! But we're getting married in the gazebo, so I want to wear shoes for that, but nothing crazy, I really want to wear flip flops, maybe the ones that have a slight incline so I'll be a little bit taller, but do you think flip flops are going to make a lot of noise walking down the aisle? I can see it now, walking down and all everyone can hear is the flip flop sound of my shoes!
